chief intelligence correspondent katherine herridge is live with more on the background here from washingtonine? >> thank you, martha. based on multiple conversations with sources on capitol hill and with homeland security and counterterrorism officials, at this hour the lead remains with the defense department and the d.c. police. homeland security is monitoring the situation in southeast washington. the national counterterrorism center also known as the nctc is standing by. their job will be to run the id on the dead shooter through their databases to assess whether they have any suspicious connections. also confirming that as the president was briefed earlier today, the attorney general eric holder briefed by the new fbi director james comey, who has only been on the job for two weeks, this shooting ultimately being the first significant task for that new fbi director. with one shooter t eer dead, th guidance we're getting from our justice department producer is that there may be two additional people who are suspects. not necessarily two additional shooters at this event. the reporting i
