we now welcome londell mcmilon, attorney for katherine jackson and diane goodman, attorney for katherine. she also handles custody issues as well. would you say today was successful for your client? >> i'd say by all accounts today was a significant day and we achieved a great deal. we're happy mrs. jackson now has the permanent custody of her wonderful three children. i want to thank my co-counsel diane goodman and debbie rowe's counsel. he was just terrific and she was great and we handled this without a lot of fanfare, without a lot of back and forth. and it was done with the prudence and care that we always said we would do. at the end of the day, a lot of people have things to say about how lawyers do business. this was the classic case of doing it for the right reason. >> larry: anything you wanted you didn't get? >> no, we got everything we wanted. we wanted to make mrs. jackson the permanent guardian of the children today. that's what we were looking to have happen. >> larry: were the children there? >> no, the children were excused by the judge. >> larry: have you talked to them

katherine jackson was awarded full custody. jackson's ex-wife debbie rowe will have visitation. before that was made official, major drama in the courtroom. a strange request on behalf of jackson's longtime dermatologist, dr. arnold klein. his lawyer told the judge dr. klein wanted to be involved with the children's medical care and education and be a part of their lives. this came out of nowhere and was all so bizarre because of all the talk out there that dr. klein may actually be the biological father of these kids. he told cnn "to the best of his knowledge he is not their father but he admitted he donated sperm once and just doesn't know. we are talking about the two oldest children. this is all very bizarre. the judge told his lawyer dr. klein would not be a party to the custody hearing. his lawyer released a statement saying dr. klein is not opposed to katherine jackson being the guardian adding "dr. klein has always had a special relationship with paris, katherine and michael and is looking out for their best interest. he apparently promised michael jackson he would do so

after several delays, the jacksons go to court today to finalize a custody agreement that gives katherine jackson guardianship of michael's three children. who gets control of his massive estate is undecided. we are outside a los angeles court house. >> it is judgment day in the cases involving michael jackson's children and as a state. a judge is expected to sign off today on a deal between jackson's mother and his ex-wife debbie rowe. his mom will get permanent guardianship. debbie rowe had to fight for custody in exchange for the right to visit the children. how and when that happens will be established by a child psychologist. >> if i think the agreement takes into account, a developmental issues of children, psychological interests of these children, especially. it allows them the opportunity, maybe, to have a relationship with their mother, and does so without litigation or publicity and more trauma to an already traumatized situation. >> if the custody case may be little more than a legal formality, but the state hearing could provide fireworks. lawyers for katherine jackson have filed sev
