"action news" reporter katherine scott is live at the scene, the 1300 block of edgemont. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. and since we last spoke, the hotel guests have been allowed back up to their rooms and a lot of fire trucks have left but now that the equipment has cleared away from here you can get a better idea of the damage of the grape leaves diner here in chester. you can see there's a hole in the roof and a lot of repairs will need to be made. this is called the grape leaves diana rocco, it's formally the sunrise diner. we're told it opened up recently here on the 1300 block of edgemont in chester. it's right near widener university. this fire broke out around 3 a.m. when fire crews arrived they saw flames on the exterior of the diner and they soon realized it was up in the roof area. at that point the day's inn which is right next door had not been evacuated but once the chief saw that there was smoke going into the hotel, he made the call to evacuate the guests. he said that took about 15 to 20 minutes. they did pull the fire alarms and
