kathy, what are the details of what happened in court today? >> reporter: well, zain, there were about 500 abu bakar ba'asyir's supporters listen together proceedings through a large monitor, sometimes yelling and chanting, reacting to what the judges were reading. the verdict was quite lengthy. in the end a panel of five judges convicted ba'asyir and sentenced him to 15 years in jail. for basically influencing other people to provide funds for what would be terrorist acts. now, we know that the money was used for a militant training camp in the province in north sumatra, this was basically by a group of militants. some of them who had been convicted for terrorism-related crimes and who were released from jail. ba'asyir wants detained in august last year to his suspected links to that militant training camp. police say he helped establish the camp and members of his group, jat, was also involved in that and they were planning to launch attacks similar to the ones in mumbai in 2008 and targeting indonesian government officials and institutions.
