forces and she worked closely under secretary of defense jim miller and the deputy undersecretary kathleen hickso this committee has just recently con fermd to be the deputy secretary of defense. in early 2014, i recommended to president obama that he prom nate ms. wormuth to replace undersecretary miller since he was leaving, as well as deputy undersecretary hicks. the president nominated her and she was confirmed by this committee in mid 2014. undersecretary wormuth and i worked closely on many issues. her experience, leadership, and good judgment were essential to essential to fulfilling the serious responsibilities that the dod had during that time and continues to have. ms. wormuth led the 2014 quadrennial defense review working closely with the chairman and vice-chairman of joint chiefs of staff and military services. her leadership was especially important during the ebola crisis in 2014-15, where she worked closely with the army, african command, the white house and all the governmental agents involved with the ebola effort. her leadership was critical in helping the armies further devel
