former new york city sanitation commissioner kathryn garcia has snagged the endorsement of the "new yorkws" editorial boards. she has served in various roles, and most recently tasked with the food delivery system when the pandemic struck. she joins me now. i wonder what your time in government has taught you about what this city needs right now. >> right. this is a city that has been really devastated by covid. and everyone that i talk to wants government to work. they want their kids back in school. they want to see the economy reopen. and they want to feel safe on their streets. and they want someone with proven experience to get it done. >> the "new york times" editorial board posed a question to the mayoral candidates about the median sales price for a home or apartment in brooklyn. their responses were pretty wide ranging from low $80,000 would love to see what that would get you to as high as nearly $2 million. your response was $800,000. the editorialial board revealed the average was $900,000. what was the range of responses there reflect about the candidates? >> i think what it

kathryn garcia narrowly leads the pack after big endorsements of the editorial boards by both the "newments. they are allegations he denies. also with us, susan delpercio and rev rental sharpton. good to have you all with us. >> so good to have you with us on this new york one segment. erin, i've been fascinated by the coverage of what's happened with scott stringer, a guy i don't know and haven't really followed him closely in politics. but i've seen a lot of articles -- i saw yours and then i started looking in the nation, that intercept a lot of progressive publications are saying, wait a second, we jumped way too fast. the nation said rush to go judgment on scott stringer. we cannot flourish and ruins a 30-year career in politics. more information may clarify number webs but as of now we don't have them. they seemed to put the story in the terror read category, casting doubts on the allegations, casting doubts that she knew him before 2001, she wasn't an intern during the campaign, she didn't tell anybody contemporaneously. she gathered signatures for andrew yang earlier this year.

as for those running for next mayor, former commission for the sanitation department, kathryn garciaile adams has seen the highest drop. crime remains the top issue with new york city voters followed closely by housing and eric adams, candidate for new york city mayor joins us now. it's great to have you on the show. the sitting mayor of new york city on the subject of sports is blasphemously a red sox fan. i want to be clear, do you cheer for new york city teams? >> without a doubt. i have grown up with the nets and the knicks, and so i'm new york teams all the way. >> okay. so let's talk about people who don't know you. you have made a push here to the top of the polls in this race, the primary is just a couple of weeks away. for 22 years, you were a new york city police officer, even during your time as a police officer you pushed for reform from inside the department and sometimes a thorn in the side of leadership in the nypd. >> how are you looking at crime and how are you looking at the police department. >> i was beat badly by police officers at 15, but what many people don't

you know, kathryn garcia made it pretty easy for us.in this race, but she has been known as the fixer in city hall for over a decade at this point. she is the one who restored the city's sewage treatment plants after hurricane sandy. she delivered millions, hundreds of millions of meals to new yorkers in need during the pandemic. and she also made wide, sweeping reforms to the sanitation department that actually got -- cut commercial garbage traffic in half in her time in office. she's a trusted leader and we're dealing with serious problems, we've lost 32,000 plus new yorkers to covid. the crisis is still not over. we're going to have out-year budget crises. we've got rising crime. we really want somebody who was tested in that role, who cares about people, and, you know, in our view, there's really nothing more progressive than making government work for those who need it the most. >> all right, mara, thank you very, very much. >>> we turn back now to israel's overnight launch of another barrage of air strikes on gaza. israel now says
