it was all kathryn garcia land. look at the inner burrows of brooklyn, that was also kathryn garcia. where you saw adams build real coalitions around the city in staten island, in brooklyn, and harlem, so there is definitely a divide from an income perspective, but you talk a lot of those folks who ranked adams second because they were on that same vision. clean up the city so we can get it back working again. romaine: and i think perspective is the key word here. i think a lot of people in the city look at it in different ways, and hopefully adams will do a little bit to address the crime and make it safer to go back below 59th street once again. i am curious on the progressive question here, the idea that the city wanted someone who was a little bit more of a taskmaster, someone a little bit more moderate. when you get below the mayor itself and look at brad lander getting the comptroller position, alvin bragg getting the manhattan da position, these are definitely tie-dyed progressive here. i am wondering what me

kathryn garcia, 20%. kathryn garcia and eric adams ran as mainstream. rank choice voting we weren't exactly sure what was going to happen. here is what happened as we jump ahead in the rounds here. this is round six, seven and the final round of eight and the key nugget here round eight you see eric adams, 50.5% to kathryn garcia 49.5, a difference of less than 10,000 votes. what i should point out that's important here is the rank choice voting almost caught eric adams, right? you see kathryn garcia was third in round six, eliminated wily in round seven, ten points back. garcia received the vast bulk of the wily votes but it wasn't enough and eric adams is your winner. >> eric adams, kathryn garcia, andrew yang, all more moderate candidates in the democratic field. you add up their numbers there, well over 50%. and crime became an issue and policing became an issue in this campaign. eric adams, a retired police captain, what are voters saying in new york city about how they feel about crime. >> yeah. i think this number was what jumped off the screen.

we're going to hear from maya wiley and kathryn garcia this morning. challenge it, but the required number to do a count by hand is to have a half a percentage down difference as a percentage. i think, susan, the one thing i would want to raise to you, regardless of what the outcome is, i think what is interesting about this is that in liberal new york, and i say that in quotes, the quote progressive candidates, if you look at maya wiley as a self-described progressive, and morales as a self-described progressive, they, together, got about 25% of the vote, which means 3/4 of new york democratic voters voted for a more balanced message in terms of where we go with policing, where we go with dealing with police reform, and all of that. i think the message we should not lose here is that new york is not as fringe as some people try to project, and it doesn't mean it doesn't want reform, but it also wants to deal with issues like safety and economic equality, and stability. >> that's absolutely true, rev, but one thing i would also like to add, we saw at a
