meteorologist kathy orr is tracking the all outside on the cbs-3 sky deck. kathy? >> chris, you know what today is. today is the start of the meteorological winter. today's high temperature 65. so it didn't feel like the but by tomorrow it will. take a look at storm scan3. the temperatures are falling and we are seeing a little bit of i would say wet snowflakes or flurries mixing in there especially through the lehigh valley otherwise just main al few sprinkles to the north and west of the city and to the south and to the east. not a lot of precip tag out there just yet. cold front is moving through. it will move northward through the region again tomorrow. when the temperatures are cold and that is why we'll see a wintry mix before change over to rain. right now in philadelphia, 43. 38 in allentown. 39 in reading and only 30 degrees in the poconos. to the south and east it is warmer but look at the cold that is coming. columbus 29. st. louis 28. so a lot of cold air that will move toward the delaware valley. we'll watch this area of low pressure move back northwar

kathy. >> well, right now we're not talking about rain or flooding.ow we're talking about the cold that's coming and changing some of this over to snow believe it or not. as our low continues to move toward new england on the backside of this we have all that cold air being pulled down in places like the poconos already seeing some snow. and we do expect accumulating snow there overnight tonight where we do have a winter weather advisory in effect. so, for the poconos cold enough for snow with northwesterly winds at about 18 miles an hour. temperatures have cooled back down into the 30's. elsewhere we're in the 40's and we'll be falling overnight but in philadelphia just some light rain and drizzle development have that winter weather advisory in effect until 6 o'clock tomorrow morning for snow accumulating and ice in the poconos. this is a look what the what we expect there. not just wet snow but a little bit of ice, some icy patches on the road if you're headed towards the poconos with winds gusting to 35 miles an hour there's even a possibility of

kathy, some wintry weather right around the corner maybe?> yeah, boy did it change really fast, chris. this afternoon temperatures were 15 degrees above normal in the 60's now we're tracking rain, a little bit of a wintry mix as well. you can see on storm scan3 where you see the yellow that's pockets of moderate rain. elsewhere just some scattered showers and sprinkles. we'll put it into snow mode and you can see a little bit of a wintry mix or a few flurries up through the lehigh valley. we're going to be seeing the precipitation special to the north and west of philadelphia getting a little wintry during the day tomorrow. right now look at these numbers. 44 in philadelphia, 40 in trenton, 39 in allentown. cold enough for snow in the poconos. here's a look at what we expect during the day tomorrow. snow and sleet as you head towards the poconos, snow and rain in allentown and the lehigh valley, rain for philadelphia and its suburbs south jersey and delaware. we'll be seeing a light coating on the grassy surfaces in the poconos by late after

kathy? >> reporter: i'll tell you this wind is unbelievable, ukee, we're talking about sustained winds in philadelphia at like 28 miles an hour. we are gusting over 35 miles an hour and we're seeing some snow flakes especially to the north and west of the city. take a look at storm scan three where on the wide view especially through lehigh valley and poconos we are seeing just some snow and it is accumulating there. as we zoom in you can see through poconos, some steady snow and that is where we are going to still have that winter weather advisory, winter weather advisory in effect until will 4:00 from one to 3 inches of snow in that area let's talk a little bit about the winds because these numbers are pretty significant, in philadelphia, we have that wind on the northwest at 28 miles an hour, and wildwood, 22 miles an hour wind and even in lancaster and wilmington these are sustained wind of 21 miles an hour. the here's how it feels like philadelphia, 28. to 22 in allentown. right now in

meteorologist kathy orr is on the cbs3 sky deck now and kathy, how is it outside? >> it's cold, and yes, the cold will be sticking around for the weekend. we are in it now. the depths of winter, winter fishily begins on sunday but it feels like it already. skies have clouded up again but they'll be clearing during the early morning hours and temperatures will continue to tumble. take a look for yourself. you can see on storm scan3 a few flurries actually right through delaware and south jersey but they will be tiny little flurries of a system that's moved from virginia and west virginia. for the rest of us just seeing a few extra clouds. come tomorrow skies will be clearing. winds about 10 to 15 miles an hour from the northwest. that persistent wind will die down. feelings like 30 in philadelphia, 31 in allentown as the winds begin to ease. still wind chills in the 20's in reading and lancaster, feels like 18 in the poconos. come tomorrow morning we'll be in the 30's and slowly rising but look at that, bright and sunny, something we haven't seen in some time. tomor

kathy. >> we hope this is the last band of snow. it appears to be.e have a large circumstance lakes -- circulation around our nor'easter that's moving through maine. this patch of snow shifting toward the north and east filling in on our radar. one burst of snowly in montgomery county and you can see it from reading berks county into northern montgomery moving to the south at 20 miles an hour dumping light accumulation where you see that dark purple between pats town and upper salford. this is stretching down towards norristown, 202, glenside and into places like mount airy. if you live in this area, montgomery county even northern parts of chester please take it easy. area roads untreated will be snow covered and slick. right now temperatures below freezing so it is sticking to the ground where we have those untreated surfaces on the streets as well. in the poconos the feel-like reading is at 15. for the rest of the night and overnight areas of light snow reduced visibility at times with sub freezing temperatures we will be seeing some icy spots. co

meteorologist kathy orr is here now with what's ahead for us.athy. >> we have some cool temperatures out there right now, jessica. we're talking about some 30s and some 40s. in philadelphia arthritic. it is 30 in the poconos. allentown 30. and atlantic city at the airport down to 29 degrees. in dover down to 37. you can see on storm scan3 dry for now. some clouds lifting up from the south and the west. some high clouds ahead of warm front. big storm system out through the great lakes with snow through the planes. we stay on the warm side of this storm. so worry talking about rain during the day on tuesday. about a quarter of an inch some ponding especially during the afternoon. temperatures around 50 and not much of a wind. but coming after that, a bigger story. it will be turning colder. we'll see some more sun in the seven day but then a chance of snow will be focusing on this after the rain is gone. coming up we'll time the rain and talk more about the snow coming up with that seven day forecast much jess. >> all right, kathy, thank you. >>>

kathy has been tracking the nor'easter and she joins us now with the latest. kathy? >>> we're looking at icy roads especially north and west of philadelphia. this picture you can see some flurries. this is in montville right where county line road and 202 meet. you can see the roads look wet and on the sidewalks we're seeing some snow showers so watch out for those icy spots during the late night hours. on storm scan3 our storm is well to the north of us over new england but that wrap around moisture is producing narrow bands of snow or snow squalls that are creating bursts that are dropping a half an inch of snow in some places in about 20 minutes. you can see another one through the lehigh valley and reading berks county moving toward the south right now in chester county montgomery county we have a bit of a snow patch right here right along perkiomen heading to the south and right on north gulph road we're talk bowing the area near tredyffrin also valley forge park, the the upper mainline. you could be seeing some of this snow moving your way within the next half
