cnn's kathy novak has the latest for us this morning. kathy? >> reporter: tragic news, christine.adly not unexpected. it's been two days since villagers saw this plane crash into the mountain. it's taken that long for the search and recovery teams to actually reach the site and now once again facing exactly the same problems of this rugged terrain and bad weather. they had a clearing in the weather and they were able to get there and locate the bodies but now the problem is they have not been able to get a single one out. ground teams spending yet another night on the mountain. now the search teams in the air have also had to be called off just because this is such a difficult region with steep slopes, heavy jungle and really unpredictable weather. as you can imagine, the families will be very anxious to get these bodies back, get them identified and start to get some answers, christine. >> kathy, tell me a little bit about the context of the safety record of this airline and the rapidly growing airlines in the region. >> reporter: absolutely. the black box, as you mentioned, has

let's turn to kathy novak now for the latest. looking for the wreckage now, kathy. >> reporter: more than a day, christine, since the plane went missing and the bad weather forced the mission to be suspended. we are told the air search mission has to be suspended because of the bad weather. the two ground teams have been hiking in the wooded area where they are trying to reach the region where two planes say they spotted debris. small pieces of debris. they are looking for a large chunk of debris after villagers say they saw the plane crash into the mountains and saw the wreckage. what the ground search teams are trying to do is access this area to build a helipad. they need to fly a helicopter to get specialized teams in to get in and also get out. we are told that the teams are hopeful of finding survivosurvi but the head of the rescue mission in indonesia is telling us the reality is there is very little likelihood of finding any survivors given the situation. really they are trying to get this helicopter in to pull out any bo
