meteorologist kathy orr is tracking tonight's rain. kathy, what should we expect?> well, if you're going out in the next couple of hours pack the umbrella 'cause the rain is falling heavy at times and you can see the line moving up from the southeast along the i-95 corridor through trenton, philadelphia, wilmington, adjacent suburbs and down through the entire state of delaware. where you see the orange and yellow this is heavy rain way few rumbles of thunder embedded in here. along 676 to the south even 76 to the north and west we're looking at heavy rain. on the jersey side, 130, on the pennsylvania side, heading toward 95, route 1 and even along the schuylkill expressway. so, some heavy rain expected right through the overnight. winds picking up about 10 to 20 miles an hour, up from the south ahead of this cold front and then they'll be shifting westerly tomorrow. future weather really picking up on this heavy rain moving along the i-95 corridor with another batch of rain to the west. that moves through overnight and after 2:00 a.m., the rain will kind of begin

meteorologist kathy orr is live on the cbs-3 sky deck with the first check of the forecast, kathy. >> we have rebounded really nicely, jessica, i had sunshine and now more clouds then anything else but temperatures have bounced back in, to the the 50's and the 60's, but look at some of these numbers, i mean we are digging way back into the archives, looking at some of these morning lows, in atlantic city the cool spot is 30 degrees. that was at the the airport. below freezing in millville, and the poconos, and allentown, recording in at 32 degrees. wilmington 36. philadelphia is 39. that is the coldest temperature we have seen since last april. right now, some 60's through philadelphia, wilmington and points to the south and east. to the north and west only in the 50's. average high is 65 for this time of the year. the clouds will help to keep temperatures well above freezing tonight, and we will slowly fall, into the 50's, through philadelphia, even by 11:00 p.m. coming up we are tracking some showers on storm storm three and we can see so long to the sunshine. we will not see that f

the meteorologist kathy orr is live on the sky deck with more, kathy. >> it is more like hot chocolate but it will be ice cream soon, chris. behind me you can see in center city philadelphia we have some foggy conditions, elsewhere, it is a little bit worse. take a look at storm scan three we have had warm moist air moving our way. we have drizzle. we also have some mist out there in a few showers especially through south jersey. we have mild eras well with southeasterly wind 64 in philadelphia, millville and wildwood, some 50's toward the the poconos. combine the two and we are seeing some fog. here are some of the poor visibility numbers, the the poconos visibility down to zero, and allentown, lancaster and even reading down to 2 miles. atlantic city down to two and a half miles. those numbers are expect to go lower overnight. a foggy start to the day, it will be a foggy evening as well, temperatures will stay in the 60's, right through the evening period. then all eyes on our next weather maker bringing showers and even thunderstorms mid to late week that is something to keep an eye

meteorologist kathy orr joins us now. she's got her eye on the storm. kathy. >> we have another round of heavy rain that will move through during the morning hours. on storm scan3 you can see the general direction. all of this is coming up from the south. right now some patchy rain through the philadelphia area but more is to come to the south. we are seeing some bands of heavy rain through areas of maryland. that will go to the north. more additional rain will actually be rotating back in from our shore points a little bit later on tonight. as far as the precipitation is concerned, we have had a good dose of rain. some spots picking up as much as 3-inches in some areas. and that additional rain is going to continue to fall right through the early morning hours. on storm scan3 you can see the breaks right now. by tomorrow morning we'll be seeing a much different story with some gusty winds coming to an end and some clearing skies. we'll take a look at that morning commute forecast a little bit later on in the broadcast. chris. >> thank you kathy. >>> the

meteorologist kathy orr joins us now with the change that's on its way. thy. >> we already have some mild and muggy conditions, jess, and some showers popping up through western pa but more numerous showers in a line from cleveland all the way down into south carolina and all this is progressing toward the northeast. so, not as much on the severe weather front. we're talking about rain, wind and even some thunderstorms. right now the temperature is 70 in philadelphia, 71 in millville and wilmington, 73 in reading at this late hour. we are watching a strong area of low pressure over cincinnati moving eastward with showers, some thunderstorms and those winds will be gusting to at least 30 miles an hour tonight and through the day tomorrow. the main storm threats, downpours that could lead to localized flooding, lightning with the storms also some very gusty winds. on the low threat we're talking about things like hail and tornadoes so that's the good news. coming up we're going to talk more about the mild and muggy air, time out the storms so you know when t

meteorologist kathy orr is here now with that. kathy?>> we're talking about rain and wind, chris, and it's revolving around a broad area of low pressure. see these showers and storms to the south? they are going to be moving up into the delaware valley overnight tonight. so just part of the weather story earlier today we had showers and thunderstorms not everywhere but in brick township in ocean county we had a lot of lightning. chopper three captured these pictures over the shore as well and we had also a report of a waterspout. not too unusual this time of year but we don't see them that often. the waterspout was spotted off of barnegat bay off lava let and you can see this eyewitness cam picture courtesy of barnegat bay island new jersey facebook page and the waterspout going down right here. we had rotation in the thunderstorms moving offshore and that is what created this tornado over water. typically weaker than a tornado but gusty winds associated with it as well. as far as our weather is concerned now, in the future, we're talkin

meteorologist kathy orr is live on the skies deck to tell us when we might see the sun again, kathy. >> it is trying to break through but night is falling. that means we are in for some slow clearing across the delaware valley. take a look at storm scan three our storm system well off the the coast of long island south of nantucket island and we are seeing clouds and a few sprinkles rotating around this broad area of low pressure but general trend would be for skies to clear out. that is the good news. we are looking still at very breezy conditions, wind gusting to 25 miles an hour in philadelphia, gusts near 30 in the poconos and in trenton. right new gusting to 24 miles an hour in wilmington. temperatures fairly uniform across the region with the clouds and with the windy conditions and in the poconos, 44 degrees, a cool spot, normal high being 64. we have only made to it 57 in philadelphia temperatures staying in the 50's, dropping ever so slowly with the clouds through the the evening. at 9:00 it will be windy and damp, temperature 53. still mostly cloud which a temperature of 51

meteorologist kathy orr is tracking the storm. >> kathy, what can we expect tonight? >> more rain and more wind. you'll be hearing that rain going pitter patter on your windows during the early morning hours. it continues to train from the south to the north and i want draw your attention to this rain right here. looks like it's offshore. off of cape hatteras but this is actually going to rotate back in toward philadelphia and its suburb. we have broad air area of low pressure and that counterclockwise flow will guide that heavy rain right into the region. right now we're seeing spotty showers an few areas of heavy rain mainly going up through the lehigh valley and lancaster county where they've had two to 3-inches of rain. additional rain is expected. take look at some of these amounts. reading 2.5-inches. kutztown looking at 1.74-inches. had didn't field .6. philadelphia .56. and newark delaware, .31. the heaviest rain through reading, berks county, down through lancaster, chester county hahn know brook and points to the north. we have a flood advisory in effect for

meteorologist kathy orr is tracking more of that wet weather on radar. kathy?>> are you getting tired of it. >> yes. >>> i think everybody is. yeah, it hasn't been here that long but we are getting a little tired of this weather. it is damp and dreary and we are seeing more rain moving into the delaware valley and area of low pressure well off the coast as it pulls farther away we will see improving conditions but you can see long island right now see all that red, orange and yellow we're talking about winds gust to go 50 miles an hour and torrential downpours on long island. for us periods of heavy rain but for the most part it will be here or there through the overnight and then getting more showery during the day tomorrow. take look at these win. it's not just the wind. winds gust to go 26 miles an hour in atlantic city. 25 at ocean city maryland. philadelphia gust to go 31 miles an hour so the rain is part of the story. the wind is the other part. overnight occasional rain additional quarter of an inch in most locations. but where we see some pockets of hea

meteorologist kathy orr is live on the skies deck with more on this drastic drop, kathy. >> when sun was out earlier, jessica it was fairly comfortable, especially if there was not much win. now there is a breeze and i'm feeling the chill that is slowly seeping into the delaware valley. high temperature in philadelphia did make it to 60 degrees and that was fairly comfortable considering that the normal high for this time of the year is around 62 degrees. so not so bad, just a couple degree off. elsewhere around the region temperatures in the 50's. right now in philadelphia a we're sitting at 56 degrees. fifty-one in allentown. fifty-two in wilmington. fifty-four in dover. look at the poconos down in the 40's going down well in the 30's overnight. on storm scan three we have a few clouds in the region. skies will stay cloudy through the evening. 9:00 a.m. down to 51. by 11:00 o'clock 49 and chill which those temperatures falling. jet stream is beginning to take a big dip towards our region. it will bottom out on the saturday and slowly retreat by the beginning of next week. so coming

. >> our meteorologist kathy orr is standing by. she has the latest on gonzalo's track. thy, how much longer is bermuda going to have to deal with this. >> for the next two, maybe four hours. they're in the eye of the storm, the calm right now. the northern part of that eye wall has moved through now the southern end of the eye wall has to move through and you can see it, it is very impressive on this radar and satellite view. we're looking at conditions that are going to continue to be on the calm side right now and that eye of the storm but then when the second part of that eye wall moves through it is going to be dangerous again. but winds at the airport in bermuda clocking at hurricane force with some higher gusts and when you consider how big this storm is, you know, bermuda is only 22 square miles but gonzalo is about 350 miles wide about the width of kentucky so we are talking about a massive storm. this is the view right now. this is the latest bermuda doppler radar from their weather service. there is the eye of the storm where you see the plus right there, that

meteorologist kathy orr joining us from the weather center with a check on the first forecast. thy. >> foggy conditions spreading and especially intense as you head towards the north and east and west of philadelphia. we'll take a look at that. but first we're looking at dry conditions as far as the rain is concerned but we do have mist and fog out there, temperatures basically in the 60's along the i-95 corridor south and east a-little bit cooler through the lehigh valley and the poconos. we are watching as the visibilities continue to go down in this warmer and also moist air mass. you can see in allentown down to a mile, in the poconos a half mile, the same in lancaster but i do think this area through our northern and western suburbs, through the lehigh valley and the poconos will be the ones that really have issues come tomorrow morning. so we're talking about areas of dense fog, basically between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning being at their worst. our northern and western suburbs being hit as well as points farther to the north like the lehigh valley and the poc

the meteorologist kathy orr is live on the sky deck to tell us when those storms might arrive. >> there is always a price to pay for a day like this, the clouds are here, the winds of change are blowing, it is warm, and it will stay that way for a little while before the rain, moves in. take a look at these temperatures today, pretty amazing, georgetown, delaware 82. philadelphia, allentown, trenton, 79 degrees. wilmington made it to 79. right now fill mainly in the 07's with the exception of the poconos, and more warmth is to come, average high is only 67 degrees for this time of the year. so temperatures riding at least 10 degrees above normal. on storm scan three we have clouds and showers and sprinkles to the west but part of the much larger system that is moving through the the in midwest and deep south and all of this is moving toward the north east. now the main threats with these particular storms are going to be heavy downpours, some lightening and also some wind. this is tomorrow afternoon through thursday morning and hail and tornadoes are just a low threat at this point and

meteorologist kathy orr is here with what we should expect. thy. >> we have very powerful storm system making its way across the country you can see the line of showers and storms behind moo part of the same system that just last night brought this severe weather to parts of texas this video is from a fair in waco the high winds kicked up the rain moved in, people were scrambling for shelter. the fair had to be shut down because of the storms. aftermath was unbelievable. there was significant damage there. well fortunately, we are not expecting severe weather out of this system but we will see the rain and we will see some wind and already the rain is moving in to the delaware valley through parts of the chester county reading berks county into the lehigh valley and into the state of delaware. it's moving northward than eastward so it will take little time to get into philadelphia. but over into the it will spread across the region. so it's not just one band or two bands. but three bands of rain. this is our cold front through cincinnati and al

meteorologist kathy orr live on the sky deck with more on how cold it will get, kathy. >> good thing it will come over the weekend because we wouldn't want to spoil fun of halloween. we have made it within a window of just about 12 hours. right now we are seeing cloudy skies in center city philadelphia a and that will continue across the region. take a look at our high temperature. started off bone chilling this morning but not this afternoon high of 54 degrees but normal high is 62 for this time of the year. we are looking at clouds shrouding the area and here comes the showers, they will hold off until overnight and you'll see period of rain tomorrow but that is part of the weather story. temperatures falling fast in wilmington and lancaster we're in the 40's. in the poconos we have 51 in philadelphia this evening for your halloween forecast 7:00 p.m. temperature 50. same at eight. by 9:00p m we will be down to 49 degrees and geesely clouds will stick around and it will be calm. coming up we will talk about the blustery weekend, we also have a stormy saturday on tap with rain. it w

meteorologist kathy orr is tracking when it will arrive. kathy? >>> right now, we are seeing a few showers throughout western pennsylvania. it is warm and it is muggy. but more rain to come with this cold front extending from ohio all the way down into the deep south and all of this is moving toward the delaware valley. we have strong wind gusts already winds gusting close to 30 miles an hour from philadelphia through our suburbs and through south jersey. and all of this is moving our way. the mild and muggy air will continue and then the storms will be coming. after the storms much cooler air will be invading the delaware valley as well. we'll watch the storms approach with some heavy rain and wind tomorrow but that is just the half of it. we are looking at the threat of rain that could lead to some flooding we'll talk more about that and the timing of these storms coming up a little bit later on in the broadcast with that timeline. for now, jess, we'll zen it back to you. >> kathy, thank you. >>> new tonight, a booze battle in chester county. th

kathy orr is live on the cbs-3 sky deck to show us when that wet weather will arrive, kathy. >> chris, we had showers and thunderstorms and to the west we have had severe weather. we're not expect ago this. wind could gut gusty late tonight and during the early morning hours. while we are sleeping. take a look at storm scan three, you cannot see much on this right now. all of the axis to the west and southwest. where we see reds and yellows, well, yellow is actually a severe thunderstorm watch. red out through west virginia and also kentucky, where we're talking about tornado watches. so some severe weather associated with this cold front but for us, it will be rain and a little bit of win. all this moving toward the north east up that i-95 corridor through d.c. and then, eventually in the philadelphia area. we're looking at temperatures that will be falling from highs today that were pretty seasonal, in allentown 72. fail 71. atlantic city made it to 74. temperatures are falling with the clouds. in philadelphia 69. sixty-seven in trenton. as well as in wilmington. 69 degrees right no

meteorologist kathy orr is here now with how long it's going stick around. kathy? >>> that fog in and out of center city philadelphia. you can see some of our tops of our skyline covered in fog but that's not the worst of it. across the area we are seeing warm moist air. areas of fog developing with warm temperatures. still in the 60s in philadelphia. some 50s to the poconos. but as we look, this is the area of fog that is gettin getting vn to the north and west of the city threw the lehigh valley a and.poconos. look at these visibilities. so this is the area we're concerned of. between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. for the start of that morning rush. areas of dense fog from our northern and western suburbs and toward the north toward the poconos we're looking at visibility below a half mile for most of the morning. so please be aware of that. the next problem comes with this storm system bringing severe weather to the west. it is moving quickly toward the east turning stormy in the delaware valley. details ornithes coming up later in the broad calf. >> kathy, thank. >>>

meteorologist kathy orr is live on the cbs-3 sky deck with her first forecast. >> clouds are here, rain is next, chris. some areas of the delaware valley and along the shore did see some rocking thunderstorms and even reports of the waterspout in the ocean county. lets look at storm scan three more widespread showers are moving towards the region all this rotating around low pressure that will slowly but sure liz move away over next couple days. we can see a lot of activity popping up here and in particular, as i mentioned ocean county near toms river heavy thunderstorms and along barrier island along lbi, sea side heights and laviolette there was a sighting of the waterspout and with that other severe weather. hail reported about a half inch to a quarter inch in diameter and that waterspout that was reported as well, we have a picture of that taken from bayhead looking south, it appears to be off the coast there of laviolette and you can see that rotating storm that create that had waterspout, it happens during fall season and spring season when we get these types of storms. fortunatel

meteorologist kathy orr is tracking what we might see overnight. >> area of rotating showers around theegion heading towards the delaware valley moving toward the northeast. more to come overnight and even during the day tomorrow but there were storms earlier today especially in ocean county and chopper three captured some of these strong storms that had hail, frequent lightning and some of these storms showed some rotation within them creating a water spout off the jersey shore in ocean county. this is the view. this courtesy of barnegat bay island new jersey facebook page, here's a rotating thunderstorm and right here you can see the water spout system it is a tornado over water with that rotation but often much weaker than a tornado. still, gusty winds but safely offshore. we are looking at conditions that are going to be pretty rainy and windy overthe next couple of days. future weather shows the showers down through baltimore and washington moving toward the philadelphia area, especially tomorrow morning. they'll be rotating through the region. so, occasional rain for the next coup

as you head out the door tomorrow, meteorologist kathy orr out on the cbs-3 skydeck now with how low those temperatures will drop. >> chris, they are falling very fast, stepping out on the skydeck, we have a clear sky. i already can feel the chilean though there is no winds out here. you can take a look at storm scan3, where skies have cleared throughout most of the region, temperatures right now have fallen pretty quickly, in philadelphia, 49, 45 in wilmington, 38 in allentown, and already, 34 in the poconos. when you combine cold temperatures, clear skies, and light winds, we talk about temperatures that are going to plunge come tomorrow morning where you see that deep purple, those are lows in the 30's, the lighter blue, you can see, in the 40's. forty-one will be the temperature to wake to up in philadelphia tomorrow morning. for your halloween in allentown, waking up to 36, poconos, 33, 39 degrees in trenton tomorrow morning. coming up we will talk about an update to that trick-or-treat forecast, a storm is brewing, that is going to bring blustery back to our weekend, and temper

meteorologist kathy orr has more on gonzalo's rage. >> this is amazing.his storm at one point about 500 miles wide and you can see it right here on our satellite view a very compact eye passing right over the island of bermu bermuda. we have amazing saturday satellite pictures you can see the wide expanse of this category four storm. at one point. now a category two. this is the view from space. also, some pictures from a little bit earlier this evening when it was daylight and you can see the storm surge beginning to move in and these destructive waves on top of that surge which could have been as high as 10 feet. we are expecting some significant coastal flooding as a result. now, this storm system continues to move toward the north northeast. right now, the eye of the storm is moving toward the north and we are seeing the southern part of the eye wall move right over bermuda. this right here. x marks the spot so all of that convection. the thunderstorm, right here will be passing over. so this is the second part of the storm. right now maximum sustaine

kathy orr is here with a look at storm scan3. >> that's round one. another round moving our way. this lifting toward the north and east. basically on the jersey side right now. but more is to come. lighter rain in the yellow that you see through pennypack woods, palmyra and port richmond but over across the delaware we're seeing some oranges rain rates about half an inch an hour along 295, also the turnpike through willingboro, wood lane, maso masonville, medford, moorestown and toward mt. laurel. more rain moving up from the i-95 corridor but toward baltimore and washington and this is a history of some gusty winds. you can see it all lifting toward the northeast going in our northern and western suburbs within the neck hour, and here reported in maryland a 40 miles an hour gust these storms do have history of gusty winds and heavy downpours. winds out of the south right now between 10 and 20 miles an hour for the most part. they will be shifting once that front passes and it still will be windy tomorrow. future weather has good ham on these two rounds of rain, and as we progres
