winter storm warning just went in effect for parts of the area lets go right to meteorologist kathy orr for latest on the timing, track and a totals kathy. >> the snow is moving up i-95 corridor as we speak already in washington and already in baltimore. next up wilmington. you can see it on storm scan three moving quickly toward the north and east. very large storm and encompasses about 19 to 20 states. it is being impacted with watches and warnings. you can see that dark lavender ban that is the heavier snow that is lifting up toward the north. already in georgetown delaware heading toward dover, soon in cape may and then seeing tonight wilmington within the next couple of hours. a all this progress to the north east. i mentioned those warnings, advisories, they cover a good chunk of the eastern see game and we will see that winter storm watch or winter storm warning continue. you see it in pink right through tomorrow at noon. the advicery for philadelphia and points to the north and west, until noon. this is for a lesser accumulation. a bit of the upside down storm where we see less'

meteorologist kathy orr is out on the cbs3 sky deck where the temperatures are quickly falling tonight. kathy? >>> they are. the winds of change moving in with an arctic front, chris. on storm scan3 we watched as a squall of snow moved through and now the wind behind it is going to bring the brutal cold. you can see the snow moving through atlantic county and cape may counties right now heading down the shore that's the last of the snow. now, we're talking about the bitter cold. so winds gusting to 24 miles an hour right now in philadelphia. but gusting to 30 in the poconos and that wind is going to create big problems come tomorrow morning we'll be gusting to 30 miles an hour in most locations and that will drive wind chills below zero. we have a wind chill advisory tomorrow for the poconos look at those numbers 25 to 35 below zero. that is dangerous cold. for us, four below tomorrow morning in philadelphia. six below in allentown. wilmington five below even through the afternoon. below zero with wind chills even in the city and look at this. friday morning 18 below in the city. 33 be

meteorologist kathy orr has a look at what's happening right now. kathy?> temperatures continue to plunge. we are looking at a clear sky and a very cold air mass over us the winds continue as well. we have that wind advisory in effect for at least the next hour. take lock at storm scan3. where the clear skies do continue and we are talking about temperatures in the 20s. falling down into the teens overnight tonight. and that's not even counseling the wind. winter weather advisory in effect until midnight for icy surfaces as temperatures continue to plunge. well below freezing. winds still gusting to 30 miles an hour in philadelphia. 36 right now in the poconos. you can see millville gusting to 32 miles an hour. we do have wind advisory in effect for the entire region through midnight for gusts 40 to 50 miles an hour. we've already heard tree limbs that are down across the region and also loose objects that are just blowing around in these intense winds. temperatures are pretty. they're going to get even colder. 24 in philadelphia. 16 in allentown. eight in

meteorologist kathy orr is live outside on the cbs3 sky deck tracking this latest arctic blast. thy? >> this one is a little bit different in the fact that we're going to be seeing an arctic chill and it is going to be historic because of this cold february. now right now we're feeling the cold chill but not much wind out here. we still have wind chills advisories posted because it doesn't take much wind when you have frigid temperatures. take lock at storm scan3 we do have have clear skies and that's part of the problem tonight with temperatures that are plunging but that will keep the cold as far as the snow and the sleet and the storminess to the south well to the south of our area. right now in philadelphia it's only 15. four below in the poconos. and on the wind that's only about five to 10 miles an hour it feels like 20 below in the poconos. three in philadelphia it feels like 1 degree below zero in trenton. come tomorrow morning, a wind chill advisory in effect at the poconos for wind chills as cold as 20 degrees below sorrow and the lehigh valley 15 below. even in philade

meteorologist kathy orr is tracking the storm's path and just how much precipitation will fall. thy, what's latest? >> right now we're seeing data coming into the weather center. we're looking at snow moving in as early as tomorrow afternoon and we're tracking it on storm scan3. we have snow, we have ice and we have rain and it's all closing in on the delaware valley. you see it over the tennessee valley where watches and warnings are already posted and it won't be long until this moves into our region. you can see winter storm watch goes into effect for philadelphia to the north and west tomorrow afternoon and advisory to the south and east for lesser accumulations of snow and ice. here's the area of low pressure moving toward the region. by the afternoon the snow is here. it changes over to ice and then to rain and it sweeps out during the day on sunday. now as far as what to expect with this storm, we're talking about two to 4-inches of snow along that i-95 corridor. we change to sleet and then to rain. we are going to be seeing reduced visibility especially tomorrow afternoon
