let's get right over to meteorologist kathy orr who is live out on market street in old city. kathy? >> not as heavy as it was earlier. we're still seeing some light showers but earlier today we saw some heavy rain on ultimate doppler seeing even more. on old city philadelphia streets, we're seeing some puddles here and there but another round of rain is going to be moving in late tonight. on ultimate doppler you can see that yellow and that red in middletown, delaware, moving toward maryland. that's the good news. but more heavy rain moving up from the south toward the jersey shore. so we are definitely not out of the woods just yet. heavy rain moving through ocean city, new jersey, right now. right up the garden state parkway and that will continue to move northerly during the evening. heavy rain expected during the overnight. even in philadelphia and its suburbs. that flash flood warning continues through 7:30 this evening for new castle county, delaware. where middletown, even black bird into odessa and townsend we've seen three to 5-inches of rain already and here's a look

torrential downpours and flooding live look outside our old city studios where we find meteorologist kathy orr on market street. kathy? >> it's warm, it's humid and the rain is coming down pretty heavy now, guys. i've been out here 15 minutes and i can definitely feel the difference. behind me busy afternoon but everybody or most people have their umbrellas out, and the reason why, more heavy rain is moving our way. even in old city, philadelphia. ultimate doppler you can see that heavy rain is moving right through new castle county, delaware and it's spreading up the 95 corridor toward philadelphia northeast philadelphia and crossing over into south jersey. but really ground zero with this storm is middletown, delaware, through townsend and even odessa where we're picking up two to 3-inches of rain an hour. look at that. 2.74-inches an hour right along route 13. we do have flash flood warning in effect for this area until 7:30 tonight. as iain mentioned flash flood watch in effect for good part of our region. i-95 corridor and our adjacent suburbs in pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware and

meteorologist kathy orr has more on what is looking like another heat wave. kathy? >> steamy, kathy. >> here we go. made it into the 90 today's. we'll do it again tomorrow and the next day. some heat and humidity with some storms firing up earlier. they have cleared the coast and tonight we're just looking at warm and humid conditions. down the shore in wildwood, it's busy. heat. atlantic city mater it to 93 today. that was at airport. philadelphia 91. wilmington 90. trenton and rowing in the upper 80s allentown 85 degrees. right now you can see the range in temperature from the poconos at 75. to none in philadelphia. ac. 90 in dover and wildwood it is 90 degrees. as we look at the shore temperatures the southerly wind 80s pretty much everywhere with the exception of the boardwalk in ac. the ocean water temperature still at 70 degrees but that will be cooling down the next couple of days. we have the heat. now the humidity when you see 6s uncomfortable. the dew point in dover is 76. that is oppressive. so when you combine the heat and humidity, it feels like it's cl

. >> meteorologist kathy orr joins us now with the first check of your forecast. so dramatic day yesterday. now you got things popping up again. >> oh yeah we have a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for the lehigh valley. so that does include allentown. so take look at ultimate doppler behind me. this is the line right here from scranton and southwesterly direction just to the south of harrisburg and everything moving toward the southeast drenching downpours frequent lightning and some very strong winds. there is the cell. see that magenta color? that is the severe thunderstorm moving toward upper macungie, lower milford and also into richland. so we put a timer on this. they're moving toward the southeast at about 25 miles an hour and at that speed they'll be in lower macungie by 6:11. upper milford by 6:18. richland by 6:36 and perkasie by 6:50 if the storm holds togeth together. severe thunderstorm warning for berks and lehigh until 6:30 and once again these storms have a history of damaging winds. possibly in excess of 70 miles an hour. temperaturetempera

kathy orr is here with more >> we're monitoring and saw this, an early detection of rotation across the delaware bay moving towards fort skew, call the national weather service there was a severe thunderstorm and asked them will you put out a tornado warning and we saw this. there was a report of a water spout that crossed the bay and was seen in fort skew. more storms are moving our way and you can see a few popping here in delaware county. also, some in cap, but i'm more concerned about this to the west, flooding concerns during the nighttime hours. so we had a flood advisory for wilmington into parts of delaware county. just be weary of heavy rain that's falling and more coming your way and a flash flood, flash flash flood watch for most of the region because of the heavy rain. some of the heaviest downpours we can see two to as much as four inches of rain during the evening and late tonight. fast moving downpours, so concerns for street flooding, also streams and creeks. remember, a flash flood warning means it will come down so hard, flooding will happen quickly and slowly the stor

meteorologist kathy orr joining us now. kathy, what's going on right now? >> inches of rain down the shore in northern delaware and also in chester county. so a lot of that flooding has receded thankfully and we're watching another line of showers and thunderstorms build to the north and west of the lehigh valley. we do have one severe cell severe thunderstorm warning in effect for columbia north cumberland and schuylkill counties until 6:00. we'll see as this moves towards the south and east it if it goes toward the lehigh valley. i'll keep you updated on that. it's pretty decent out there. we're looking at that heat wave, that ended some storms moving this evening and the possibility of a few scattered thunderstorms that could be severe. we are under the marginal risk for severe weather in this area highlighted by green. the only severe cell to the north and west of the lehigh valley that could make it in by later this evening. so we'll keep an eye on that. in the meantime temperatures looking quite warm. 87 in philadelphia. 88 in wilmington. 87 in millvi

kathy orr has been tracking these storms. i guess we better keep our windows closed tonight. kathy. >> unbelievable, luce seem south jersey and delaware really getting hit hard right now. ultimate doppler we're tracking the storms very heavy rain nothing severe right now. but a lot of lightning and very heavy rain moving through interior south jersey, heading into lbi and toward our shore points. right along the expressway, shamong, folsom and pitts grove moving toward millville, galloway, atlantic city and of course beach haven. you will hear those rumbles of thunder very soon as these storms move toward the southeast and they're moving very quickly. rain cooled temperatures and as those severe storms met the cooler air, down in south jersey and delaware, they have lost some of those severe characteristics. that's got news. right now, we're talking about very heavy rain the rain rates about half an inch an hour ponding on area roads. localized flooding is possible and winds gusting to about 40 miles an hour with these storms and this is at least through midnight. we'll contin

kathy orr got in the plane and headed down the shore to ocean city. the heat is on full blast that sand has to be hot. somewhere in ocean city is our own kathy orr. >> it's not too hot out there for you, is it? >> it's unbelievable you guys. i'm one of those people on the beach. from the camera. that's who i am. you can see all those beach umbrellas. as i was driving here i looked at the thermometer in my car it said 99, 98 as i got closer to the shore it went 86, 85. right now on the beach it's beautiful. we have a southeasterly wind and you can see that flag blowing in the breeze here but everybody is her for the duration because it is so much more comfortable. low humidity on the beach. but go two blocks inland, and it feels much different. down the shore, looking good. some folks in the water and little bit of a haze but some blue sky is as well we also have to talk about the severe weather threat because at home we have some serious storms. we have a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 9:00 o'clock tonight for most of the region. not atlant

kathy orr good news for anyone who had enough of the really, really hot weather. >> 80s in the 7 day. a lot of humidity out there and that's why we're seeing downpours lucy and we have a stalled front really the mechanism for creating these downpours and you saw the pictures in chadds ford about 2 to 4" of rain fell in that area this afternoon and evening and that's why we're seeing flash flooding and ultimate doppler still seeing showers and thuderstorms moving across the region and see this cell here through salem and gloucester country that is a severe cell and right now we're looking at severe thunderstorm warning in effect for cumberland, gloucester and salem counties until 11:15 a line ever surprise her storms between woods town and alloway in south jersey and we'll zoom in on the sell. a lot of lightning associated with it and hail and rain rate of 4.2" an hour. the good news it will be moving towards east. but only 15 miles an hour. more downpours and flooding expected in that area. so please be aware of that. >>> severe thunderstorm warnings will be expiring at about 11:15 we
