to our 4 zone forecast as we take a live look outside at coit tower kron four's meteorologist kathy trafton is here with the details. hi, kathy. >> hey, you. once again. our string of super cold mornings continues. it continues again today. it continues again tomorrow for frost advisories and freeze warnings. we could see subfreezing temperatures in many areas, especially across the north bay and parts of the south bay. and then of course, we are going to the frost concerns. also. >> high temperatures today were a little cooler than normal just like yesterday. just like tomorrow. so you'll see mainly in the 50's to low 60's. >> that's no big change. so again, tomorrow's kind of like yesterday, kind of like today. and here's all those areas with think she is breezing cold mornings and that those advisories and warnings continue through 9 o'clock tomorrow morning. so what are those low temperatures exactly. well, how about 29 degrees in santa rosa? and that subfreezing that that's just below free at just above freezing and a lot of areas in the 30's and 40's across the entire bay area. this i

kron four's meteorologist kathy trafton here with details on. >> may be the cold night. sunshine. >> you bet. cold night tonight and sunshine tomorrow. the forecast is on kind of a semi repeat pattern for the next few days. so it's going to be freezing cold tomorrow morning. but you know what? the high temperatures tomorrow will be a lot like today, which is a bit below normal. >> anywhere from one to 7 degrees below normal. today. and you know what? we definitely have some cold weather tomorrow morning from 01:00am to 9 at 09:00am. it's not only a freeze warning, but a frost advisory to freeze warning is for subfreezing temperatures and the frost advisories from 33 to 36 degrees. mostly clear skies highs just like today 50's to low 60's and then there's storm coming in our direction by about mid-week. so here's the area most most of the inland bay area as and arrive at the frost advisory or the freeze warning. and here's the low temperatures for tomorrow. many areas below freezing. look at santa rosa, 30 degrees. we're at 32 in livermore. 37 in hayward. so you can pick

looks like a beautiful, clear night kron four's meteorologist kathy trafton is here with the details. hi, kathy. >> hey, rob. it is a clear and cool night once again. this has been going on for day after day after day dry, quiet weather. >> really cold conditions early in the morning. once again, a freeze warning in effect and a frost advisory in effect from 01:00am to 09:00am. this goes on and on and on. and then it's going to change in a big way, but enjoy the dry conditions for now because it's going to get wet just a little bit later on the scene in this week. high temperatures today again, pretty much below normal. santa rosa hit normal at 61 degrees. but most areas a little bit below normal for this time of year. a lovely afternoon, but chilly and then really chilly again tomorrow morning. subfreezing temperatures where you see that freeze warning anticipating temperatures mean below 32 as cold as maybe 28 degrees. and the frost advisories in effect for much of the they area interior parts. so the frost advisory continues till 09:00am just as a freeze warning does. and here are

we're gonna see what the weather's doing this week with meteorologist kathy trafton. she is in the weather center. well, just saying it's relatively benign weather today through tomorrow. that's the deal. we had a lot of clouds this morning. still a lot of lingering clouds will go for partly cloudy skies tonight. but it's a beautiful be you can just can see that glow right through the clouds. then another front, yet another front moves across the bay area, but not until wednesday. and this is a relatively weak front. so this is bringing some precipitation right now up through the pacific northwest and northwest california. and then it starts to move in our direction. ready, not only rain into a few areas, but some snow in the sierra. so a few more snowflakes up there on wednesday. as you can see, it's light rain. so your best chance for rain on wednesday is the north bay and parts further north than that. here in the south bay, you may get a few hundredths of an inch of rain. you'll be counting just the raindrops practically it up. and this year they get a pretty good

the start more with a check of weather with kathy trafton this morning. >> kathy, we're yet again. seen another stormy day. good morning. yeah. after a beautiful day yesterday, it was just clear skies, a beautiful, dry day. it's back. another round of wet weather and wind and there are flood watches in effect in county, sonoma county, napa county. and there's a flood warning and that's for the russian river at guerneville johnson's beach. so there you go. there's used to the area of red there and that's of special concern. but really the creeks and streams are so full at this hour because of all the tremendous amounts of rain we had earlier this week. and so as a real danger with additional rain, such as we're going to get today that some of these places could overflow their banks. and so that's a real concern. concern. also, if you're driving through ponding and it's going to be quite gusty in terms of the wind as well. so we're going to see rain gusty wind. it's not as impactful, not as impressive as we saw just a few days ago, but it will be adding on to what we already had. so

we got weather center front and center here at the half hour with kathy trafton. > well, james and i in the weather center front and center with lots of rain drops and wind advisories and all kinds of watches and warnings. it'll be another stormy day, but not as dramatic as we saw just a couple of days ago. nevertheless, the wind advisory is in effect, and that is for much of the bay area. and that could beat southwest winds gusting 15 to 25 as much as over 50 mile per hour gusts. >> and then there's the sierra nevada, 2 to 3 feet of fresh snow expected today through tomorrow. that's in the very highest peak. so we could see some wind up there as well. >> our wind quite impressive, especially this morning up to about 52 miles per hour in half moon bay along the coastline. in many areas inland. we're going to see really impressive winds. and of course, there's going to be some rain along with that. i'll sort it all out coming up in weather rain back to while i was tracking in accident along northbound one on one. >> south to 80 in san francisco. looks like all thing

we continue our coverage with a look at your forecast with kathy trafton. i kathy, good morning.anie. we're in for beautiful day yet guy, but there's no rain in our forecast for today. >> and that is great news. as we celebrate chinese new year, the lunar new year, the parade tonight looks to be dry. now that precipitation, not a problem in setback. if you're driving in on the bay bridge. my goodness. we've got some traffic, but nothing that hold you up. you can sip right in and start the celebrations. so we're in for a real treat. now a look ahead. does show we have some precipitation. not today. we have no mostly cloudy skies and not tonight, but we do have a chance of precipitation coming in tomorrow on sunday. but in the meantime, we're dealing with the icy cold conditions of frost advisories. in effect, the class to the north bay, the inland valleys and parts of the south bay. that's the eastern santa clara hills. and that expires in about half an hour. so that's temperatures starting to warm up a little bit. and so we're not seeing as many icy conditions as we did. neverthe

let's check in with kathy trafton for a look at your kathy, what are you thinking? a nice day out there. it's a beautiful day, stephanie. it's a nice day. and you know what? >> a little bit warmer start than it was yesterday yesterday at this hour we are under frost advisories. it was chilly in the north bay and parts of the south bay. it's a different deal now because we've got changing atmospheric pattern. it's been really active for quite a few weeks with some torrential storms and rains and yes, we'll see a few raindrops, but nothing such as we saw before. so here's a lovely view of the golden gate bridge. and you can see some clouds a little risen on your sunday and we're in for temperatures at this hour. mainly in the 40's. it will warm up nicely up to the 50's and even a few low 60's this afternoon. but there are raindrops falling even as we speak. it's a weak front. it's dissipating. we're catching just the tail end of this front heading right across northern california. so in the bay area, especially in the san francisco bay area, best shot at rain drops. w

first with meteorologist kathy trafton. hi, kathy. hi, stephanie.y. >> in fact, it's more widespread moderate maine to heavier rain starting monday night into tuesday. so today we get a bit of a break. >> in fact, so much of a break that they have pared back the flood watch no longer is it for the entire bay area today and said it is extended to 10 o'clock tonight from marin county, napa county and sonoma counties. that's where we're expecting higher amounts of rainfall up to 2 inches in the far reaches of northern sonoma and napa counties and also in some of the mountains, we could see more rainfall rest the bay area, maybe a half an inch of rain, but that's pretty light rain for us today. considered i was a bit of a break compared to the last couple of days and compared to tomorrow. so that flood watch does continue through 10 o'clock tonight. gusty winds. yeah, that's in the forecast. off and on throughout the week and monday night into tuesday. that's when you see some wet and windy weather. speaking of the wind gusts, here you go gusty this mor

meteorologist kathy trafton is here with a look at our forecast. a cat. >> people it's about time got chance dry out after a deluge again on thursday. >> lots of rain and also snow in the sierra. now we're just learning what about temperatures like okay, little bit cooler than it was yesterday at this hour. numbers right now in the 50's. 0, yeah. there's one area in the 60's low 60's fairfield at 60 degrees. that's the concern at the coastline. up to 40 5 foot waves. no wonder he's a high surf warning in effect for the western facing beaches. that expires tomorrow morning at 3 o'clock. >> speaking of tomorrow morning, it is going to be chilly, especially in the north bay, interior valleys and especially in the eastern hills of san jose. that area santa clara, because you know what we could see temperatures plummet down freezing. so frost is not all surprising. live camera network showing well beautiful conditions from mount tam, a pious after all of that rain. now 10 had 4 plus inches of rain just about 2 days and no wonder the trees looks so green

kathy trafton is in for john travel today. kathy? >> where where that body was found is right there at the russian river guerneville johnson's beach. that's where a flood warning was extended because of the really strong rain that already happened throughout the week. already that rivers and creeks and streams and the russian river we're at or above even the flood stage. and now, of course, it's just tragic that this is the area, of course, they did find this person. so it's very tragic. the entire north bay, especially rent in sonoma county are under flood watches because of rivers and streams are so full on this additional rain that's coming in right now is certainly adding to some of the problems. you'll see the trajectory of the rain right now. a lot of it is south of the golden gate. the strongest amounts of rain in heaviest amounts. but we're not done yet. we have to go through the day with some rain and some wind rain totals could be anywhere from a half an inch to well more than an inch throughout the day. so will be a little

water levels are rising high and here in studio course reyna harvey on the traffic and we got kathy trafton to looking at. the forecast is in for john and let's go to their first of the weather center. kathy. >> yeah, we have, you considerable rain coming down is quite an interesting thing because yesterday was dry. it was blue skies. it was fabulous. right today. a very different kind of day. if you just waking up. oh, my goodness. gracious high temperatures today. we'll be in the 50's and the 60's. but you know what? it's all about the wind and the rain wind advisory in effect for much of the bay area, not the north bay necessarily, but we do have winds out of the southwest 15 to 25 gusting to as high above 50 miles per hour. and also for snow in the sierra 2 to 3 feet of fresh snow. and we have some concerns here for watches and warnings for flooding because we do some problems with the already swollen rivers and creeks and streams and more rain coming on that. take a look at these winds. my goodness gracious not only at the coastline, but the entire bay area practically is lit up with m

kathy trafton isn't. >> we've got you covered. all right. you know what? we do have rain in the forecast is already starting. we do have some flood watches and advisories. high wind concerns as well. but at least today storm is not as dramatic as a storm. we saw just a couple of days ago. i know it seems like a long time ago because yesterday was so beautiful. but there is a storm is heading in our direction. and that is just gonna bring us really quite a bit of rainfall in some areas. and course, really gusty winds, especially right along the coastline and in the sierra, it's a winter storm bringing heavy snow for today and tomorrow, thursday and friday. so if you're going to go skiing, maybe wait till this weekend to go there. you'll have lots of fresh powder, but it is certainly is going to be interesting because their avalanche concerns, avalanche warnings in the back countries. so we'll get quite a bit of snow. but still, it's gonna be falling on with the icy conditions. and that makes for instability. there's your avalanche watch. it's in effect tomo

. >> kathy trafton the joining us in studio on this monday house the week starting out at starting up have a lot of cloud here's a view point. quite tower. top telegraph hill, great conditions. you can see that mix of clouds and more clouds are streaming in. >> to the bay area. but tomorrow we'll have some sunshine and increase of clouds again, the transition from a very wet, wet start to the month of february is going to happen this week. we're going into a warmer phase, a drier phase with one exception and that exception is a powerful pacific storm. that is forecast to slam into the pacific northwest, bringing significant rain and snow there. but the power really is confined to washington and oregon. by the time it gets to the san francisco bay area. it is really a weakling. so we'll have just a few raindrops for wednesday. it's really more of a wind event. then a rain event across the bay area. we could see winds gusting to 40 to 50 miles per hour, possibly. but in terms of rainfall, the most significant in california, i can find is not even 7 tenths of an inch in eureka. one 10th

kathy trafton in the weather center with the very latest on that forecast. >> ahead. >> yeah, it's a lot of rain has been coming down across the bay area and also gusty winds winds are really going to ramp up. once we get into the afternoon because it's going to be really something. but the concern excessive rainfall outlook. so we have flood watches across marin county in sonoma county. flood warnings extending along guerneville the russian river. johnson's beach encouraging for additional flooding. so that's continuing. and we have the possibility of landslides, possibility of additional flooding along the smaller creeks and streams as well and shallow could be swift water crossings and you can see a lot of rain has already moved across the bay area, heading up to the sierra nevada where there will be quite a bit of snow, quite a bit of rain, though. here least half an inch, some areas more than an inch across the bay area today. and now that's on top of all the rain that's fallen since last friday. remember how wet and windy it was on tuesday. yes, we had a break yesterday, but th
