katie conner is on the scene for us monitoring this breaking news all morning long. katie, what's the latest? >> reporter: detectives have been waiting for the sun to go up for this investigation. let me walk you through what happened. the driver of the silver car actually worked for dominoes. you can see this in the middle of the street. last night the security guard tells me pizza sometime after 11 pm when a white pickup truck slammed right into him. both drivers were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals and both are in serious condition right now. police won't say why the crash happened but you can see the dozens of intersection -- of evidence markers here in the street. this extends beyond the intersection. the best piece of advice is to avoid the area. we saw somebody who didn't drove right through it. so please remind everybody at home just to avoid this area. >> i thinks -- i think that's the second time in a week we've seen someday drive to the inner -- through the barricades. mallory, how do people get around this? >> you really just have to avoid that area

abc15's katie conner has been on scene for us all morning long. first, how are the officers? >> reporter: we just learned the officer has a broken nose and some other injuries to his face but believe it or not -- he's talking to detectives here on scene about what happened. right now investigators are trying to figure out if this suspect is tied to the pt cruiser. that's where they say -- that's checking out -- that the police officer was checking out when the suspect out of nowhere attacked him. the suspect may have moved toward the responding officer who then shot and killed the suspect here at the scene. back out here investigators are trying to identify exactly who the suspect is. police will not say, chris, if he was armed. >>> katie, thanks for the update . meanwhile also breaking at this very momentth the scene. this is the location i should say. police are on the scene of what appears to be a drive-by shooting. one person has been shot at 27th avenue and camelback. the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. i am looking at the live feeds right now. air15 is no

abc 15 katie conner is live with all the details. katie, certainly, a disturbing story. >> especially for parents who use daycare centers at gyms. that employee worked right here at the lifetime fitness in north phoenix. a civil lawsuit reseems this isn't the only location of life lifetime fitness that has gotten in trouble. dhs found several violations of the gyms in gilbert. free and complete staff applications and lacking fingerprints cards for some of the employees who work around children. in the victims, attorneys claim he did not have the clearance to work around kids last year when he took a video of a four-year-old little girl who was changeing not a stall in a daycare center. that video was uploaded to child pornography websites. that is where investigators were tipped off. he has pled guilty to some of the charges. and he released this statement to abc 15 regarding a civil lawsuit reading in don't comment on pending litigation. we intend to vigorous i defend ourselves in this matter. and he is due back in court next month f

katie conner is there on the scene for us. katie, what is the latest there? >> reporter: i will step out of the way here as the security guard tells me late last night the driver of this silver car was heading north when he crashed into the white truck. both drivers were rushed to the hospital and we're learning or about the driver and that if we can zoom out and zoom into this dominoes sign, the security guard says the driver was working for dominoes, heading to make a delivery when the crash happened. again, both drivers are in the hospital and right now we just talked with the sergeant here on scene and he says this intersection will be shut down throughout the morning so avoid this area if possible. he told me they need daylight to be able to go through all the evidence for this investigation. >>> you see the crime scene tape up here. >> closed for this from 28 to 32nd but as katie was saying, avoid that whole intersection. we can get you around if you are traveling and this is right off of the 51. cave creek can also be an option. it should be shut down

katie conner has been on the scene for us this morning. i know you were putting some information on facebook. what do you have now? >> reporter: chris, we learned the officer spotted a morning on the opposite side of this crime tape. he approached the car and the suspect came out of nowhere and attacked him. this all happened around 2:30 a.m. the officer managed to radio for help and fortunately there was an officer nearby. when officers showed up, he shot the suspect and then turned around -- who then turned around to run away. >> the officer here initially received minor injuries to his face and is being treated at the suspect has been pronounced deceased. >> reporter: that suspect tried to turn around and that's when the officer fired at him. i am told right now please don't know if the suspect was armed, but we do know the officer who fired at the suspect had about 20 years with phoenix police. as for the injured officer, he's expected to be okay. >> thank you, also happening right now, we have a traffic crash an situation happening re

katie conner is live in phoenix. obviously, it is a busy scene there behind you. what do you have? >> that's right. witnesses are telling people they heard gunshots followed by a car screeching detectives are gathering evidence and trying to identify the victim. here is what we know. around 9:30 last night, a man was shot and killed in a driveway here. detectives are trying to figure out why he was at this home. they say the family inside did not know who the victim is. detectives have been here all night combing through evidence. right now, they are loaching to get some kind of an eyewitness to figure out what kind of car was seen speeding away from here. this scene is less than two miles or less serial street shooter killed four men on the left. garcia died in the driveway on june 10th and on the right was the tripped murder from june 19 where two men and a 12-year-old girl were killed. right now, police won't say if this is connected to the serial street shooter. they say there is still a ton of investigating that needs to be done. chris, as soon as we learn more about this, we'

katie conner is digging through a report and brings us the latest. >> reporter: we watched police search the middle of the desert like this. there is a possibility jesse ran away from home, went to a truck stop or gas station and got in someone's car. they got on i-10 and he could be anywhere. a new police report is shedding light abuse investigation. back in 2011 avondale police received two complaints that jesse's mom, crystal wilson, was not getting enough food to her five kids. when police showed up they found two boys tied to their beds. at that time the cops decided there was no need for any further action or follow-up, because mom told an officer it was because the boys were getting out at night and she had to keep them inside. that is the same thing she is telling us six years later. and the police chief tells us she is cooperating with the investigation. >>> we now know more about the flood situation in apache -- a swat situation in apache junction. deputies say the man was aiming a bb gun at officers. he was shot by police and later died. all of the deputies involved be okay. >
