ktvu's katie utehs is live in san francisco with details on how this project got started. katie?reporter: good morning, allie. we all know how great it feels to have a fresh shower. so far, the response has been spectacular. you see behind me, that's the lava mae shower bus. we're here on 16th near cap. so far, 10 people have had a shower and about 24 people will be able to do so this morning. it is the only mobile shower service in the city. the goal is to serve about 50% of the homeless population that lives on the street here in san francisco. you can see, it is a converted muni bus. let me show you a look inside. you can see, there are shower stalls, a toilet and a sink. the showers are about 10 minutes each, warm shower, warm water shower. then a total of 20 minutes inside the unit. the front portion of the bus is wheelchair accessible so they are able to get someone in with a wheelchair if need be. you can imagine the seats pull out and two shower units within the bus. founder denise sandoval explains where she came up with the idea. >> i found out about the appalling lack
