. >> item 4c is water enterprise capital improvement program quarterly report from katie miller. >> good afternoon president ajami and commissioners. katie miller, the director of water capital program and today i'll present a update on status of projects in the capital improvement programthened of second quarter, december 31, 2022. if i could have the slides, that would be great. these pie charts show the status of 36 projects in the program with total budget of $3.3 billion. expenditures at the close of the reporting period were $1 billion extended with 31 million extended during the quarter. this table shows summary of program costs forecast by category for all active projects. you will notice there are several new variances this quarter with $125 million in forecasted cost increases for the regional program since last quarter and $301 million in forecast cost savings for the local program. this quarter the project variances all align with the revised project budgets and schedules you approved february for the future fiscal year 2024-2032cip. many project budgets show increase for var

katie miller, the director yesterday, told city agencies that, that the that we're seeing much younger kids now in the violence involved in violence. this issue was resoefshed for high school age kids and now we're seeing kids as early as 11 or 12 years old. our young people are hurting. we know that many are behind academically. supervisor ronen has done a lot of work on this issue but we know that they're behind socially. we have a generation of kids that have come of age during the pandemic and entered puberty during the pandemic and missed crucial time being with their peers person. in these violent events, we must provide a appropriate after school activities, programming from rec and park. and i want to acknowledge the role of social media which is something new in this youth violence. because the majority watch these horrific attack and live stream them on instagram getting likes and more followers. we must come up with a quicker response as soon as it happens and we must monitor and communicate with the youth in the way that they communicate today. so we continue to deal with t
