we are going to check in with katie nielsen again. she is live for us on the ground near lake merritt. this is northwest of lake merritt on 24th and valdez streets. katie, how's it looking there now? it looks like maybe the air is a little clearer? >> reporter: in a way. so not as much ash raining down on us at this point. but what's interesting is now we're actually feeling the mist from the water and firefighting efforts. you can actually see my shirt is covered in ash and also some drops of water from the mist that we're feeling right now. and what's interesting is we can actually see at least one building on fire. we believe there is one other house that's on fire as well at this time. about 15 minutes ago, firefighters brought in ground crews to start attacking those fires from the ground. they have had ladder trucks in the air all morning. and at this point, you can see the smoke is getting much thicker much denser. hopefully that means that this fire is close to being contained. the main concern right now as we have been talking
