katie pavlich, news editor townhall.com joins us.y say the government is trying to stop fraud and protect the american public. do you buy that? >> i don't bly buy it at all. since 2011 the justice department in partnership with the fdic and federal trade commission put pressure on certain groups of industries to, you know, kind of regulate what gangs do business with them. one of those industries they put on that list is the gun industry. they classified firearms and ammunition as high-risk sales. the problem here is that the second amendment is a constitutional right. you have the justice department, not through congress, but through regulation discriminating against people trying to exercise that right and i have to believe if there was a business that was discriminating against say people's right to vote the justice department would be singing a different tune when it came to how banks were treating their customers. eric: do you think let's say that the justice department would say based on their statistics says it is high-risk? >

. >> joining me now is katie pavlich. this is the first time that edward snowden is telling us that he was a spy? >> right. in this interview, he essentially pushes back against the government's classification of him as a low-level administrator who somehow got this high-level security clearance and took all this information. he revealed for the first time that he was trained as a spy and kind of worked in that capacity overseas, not just with the nsa but with agencies like the cia as well. but the question is, who was he trained as a spy by? there's plenty of evidence to support that maybe he wasn't trained as a spy for the united states but in fact for russia. if you look at some of the testimony -- and this was outlined in "the wall street journal" earlier this month from general dempsey saying the majority of the documents he took and was distributing, they didn't have to do a spy on americans but on military locations and military strategy. so if people think the russians aren't paying tension is a little bit naive.
