katie utehs has been out there with firefighters all night long and has more on that concern. e. >> reporter: good morning, tori. firefighters updated me about five minutes ago. here's the game plan -- construction crews are on scene today. let me show you the far corner of the building, that tall portion is just being held up by the scaffolding, according to firefighters. they are not clear how many stories that is. but it's quite dangerous. so demolition crews will knock that down first thing this morning. if we look across the building, you can see that fire crews are still putting out hot spots. they are doing that somewhat preemptivively i'm told, they have to move the fire trucks out of the way so the heavy machinery from the demolition crews can come in and start pushing this building inward. there's nowhere for the debris to go but inward. they will shove it toward the center of that building and then fire crews will get in place again in place the demolition crews unearth any of those hot spots. let's show you some video of the crews working yesterday too move the moun

katie utehs is live in the neighborhood with some new information from a neighbor about that house. katie. >> reporter: the neighbor i spoke with she didn't want to go on camera but she tells me she is not surprised that firefighters stumbled across marijuana in this home. people in her 20s did not frequent the home. within the last hour narcotic officers have arrived on scene. they are currently in the house taking pictures and securing the plants. they must be moving the plants, because just got a fresh whiff of the breeze and it smells like there is a lot of plants inside. someone called 911 around midnight to report a fire on the roof. nobody was home at the time and when firefighters got inside the home, they found the marijuana and since then officers have been on scene. they have told us there are quote a lot of plants inside. but again narcotic officers inside the home securing the plants and we hope to get an update on just how many plants are inside and who may billion connected to this home when they finish with their search warrant. live in hayward katie utehs ktvu channe

katie utehs is in hayward this morning. katie, reporting that firefighters are the ones who stumbled on to the plants while trying to put out a house fire. >> reporter: that is right. i spoke with lieutenant who tells me that hayward investigators are still trying to obtain a search warrant. so they can recover the marijuana plants that were found. but both the lieutenant and officers on scene tell me they were quote a lot of plants. here's what we know so far. a 911 call came in just before midnight with the caller reporting a roof fire at the house of a 23500 block. no one was home at the time. police forced into entry into the home. they is when they discovered the house fire. you can see household items but it's hard to tell if anyone is really living here. nobody was home at the time as we said. pg&e crews responded to shut off the power. police tell me they are investigating the possibility whoever was growing the pot was also stealing electricity. now at some point in the next few hours, officers are expected to arriv
