katie utehs is at the amtrak station in berkeley this morning. you are talking to people about these continuing protests. katie. >> reporter: good morning, dave. amtrak is back up and running as you can see. the train just stopped and in all three nights of demonstrations, we have seen protestors head toward the freeway. it's clearly an effective way to capture people's attention. the question is whether or not it creates empathy for their cause or the opposite. let me show you video of the protests taking over the freeway. it happened around 8:30 last night. shutting down both lanes of traffic. police were able to clear them and begin making arrests about 90 minutes later. however at one point an ambulance was brought in when a woman went into labor while stuck in the traffic. >> what we did on the freeway was very effective. we stopped traffic. we stopped the whole city. we got you guys. we got you guys out here. what else can we do to be seen? what else can we do to be heard? >> a bunch of innocent people are being caught up in it and they have

ktvu's katie utehs is in san jose now. so what is the latest on the shooting investigation, katie?er: i just received an e-mail update from police and the latest that they have is that late last night, that man was still alive. the man who was shot outside the bars here in downtown san jose. there are remnants of the crime scene tape this morning but few details about the shooting that left that man with life- threatening injuries. we do know police detained several people last night. someone at the brittana arms called police around 5:15. police arrived at the location near west santa clara avenue to find one man suffering a gunshot wound. that according to police. the mercury news says the -- a source told them the man is a security guard attempting to break up a dispute outside a bar. as we mentioned, officers detained several men outside the sp-2 bar along almaden way. customers at the brit watched the battle of the bay prior to the shooting. investigators wouldn't say exactly what led up to the fight. but they told the mercury news it was game-related for sure. now, other than
