katie marzullo joins us from the newsroom with the first images we are seeing. >>> katie? >> four are dead all on the bus. c.h.p. says 21 people are injured. seven are seriously injured. three were airlift airlifted. >> at 2:15 this morning a truck jackknifed in the middle of the interstate and spilling steel pipes into the lanes in both directions. the bus swerved to avoid the pipe or hit them and overturned. it slid across the shoulder and 50' down the embankment. four other vehicles crashed. there were 32 people on bus traveling from el paso to los angeles. before the crash they stopped in phoenix. the bus belongs to el paso-los angeles limousine company that shuttles passengers across the southwest and connects to bus lines in mexico. this is not the only recent crash involving a bus and a big rig, one occurred west of chico, ten were killed half of them high school. lawsuits have already been filed. >> officials with the texas bus company have not publicly commended on the crash. the driver of the big rig was not injured. >>> thank you, katie. >> a vigil is held for f

and our correspondent katie logan joins us now on the line from car teeth. tensions are still high.hat can these talks achieve and what have you been hearing? >> well, it is a fairly large discussion, that is for sure. involves several government ministers, politicians from all parts of the country, local businessmen, they are all around a very large round table. the prime minister opened the discussion by saying he would not seek to put down their weapons, but he did say he was ready to give them more autonomy. the separatists have responded by criticizing the government saying they have not done enough to appease people there. they want ukraine to withdraw from the east first. no agreement so far, but they are talking. >> katie, presidential elections are set to take place in one week's time. most of the country does seem prepared, but how realistic is it that the ballots will region.n the donetsk >> we are not sure about that, but preparations are underway nationally to set up for the elections. whether it will or will not happen. there say's republic they will not hold the refer

this afternoon, katy. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. the officer i spoke with has been with the department for 22 years. he says it all comes down to the promise that if he's injured while working as an officer, his family will be taken care of. he says with the new policy, it's unclear whether or not that would happen. as of last friday, the city of san jose implemented a new policy in an effort to curb police pension costs. as we understand it, if an officer is injured on the job and doesn't qualify for disability, they would be asked to take another job within the city. it's unclear what level the officers would enter the new position at or if there would be protection from future layoffs. one of the four officers leaving this week to take jobs with the santa clara county da's office says it's the uncertainty he's afraid of. >> really the nail in the coffin was the disability issue. at this point in my career, not being able to provide for my family if i get hurt is not good enough for me. >> with the amount of officers resigning and
