katie burn for us this morning. katie, always great to see you, of course. but of course, behind you, it just looks like a deluge of rainfall. yeah, michael. and it looks a lot darker now. i can tell you just in the last few minutes, there was a big boom of thunder. it sounded like a crack. and then all of a sudden the power went out here at our hotel and in a lot of locations right outside of where we are. so what you're looking at now is pitch black and a lot of locations, the streetlights have gone out. this as we are pretty much right on time for what we thought was going to happen for the city of orlando. as far as when we were going to see the worst impacts of the storm. you can see the palm trees there have been swaying back and forth. we've been getting pretty significant wind gusts. i'm curious how low the readings will come through, because i think from what we've seen throughout the day, some of the strongest wind gusts we've seen have been within the last 30 minutes since we've been kind of watching and waiting to see what happened. oh, look at t

now i believe we have katie burn, the journalist. she's in orlando. what does it look like there, katie? >> hi, neil. we're starting to see action here in orlando. the wind is picking up. the rain is coming down. it's gusty. we're starting to see some of that wind impacting the trees nearby, the palm trees. you'll hear the wind off of my mic as well. and just to give you an idea about the scope of this storm. we're about 130 miles from where the hurricane made landfall just west of fort myers. that is how big of an impact this storm is having. all the way over to orlando we're seeing it. we won't see if worst until early tomorrow. millions of people fled the fort myers area to come seek safety here. what happened is last night the hurricane warnings expanded inland. ended up covering orlando as well. so people ended up prepping to ride out the storm here, too. the hotels are busy, down stairs people are kind of getting food, hanging out and waiting this things out. orlando actually shut down, the international airport this morning. some vacationers tha
