i'm the legislative aide to katy tang. at the request of the owner, we're rezoning five parcels from rh-2 to rm-2, in the hopes that they will use it to bring affordable housing to the district. site is along a major transit corridor for the city and making it a perfect place for this housing. we're also pleased that the project sponsor has told us that they want to keep the flower shop and provide them with the commercial space with the option to roll up or down the door. we don't agree with the staff recommendation about the setback. the single-familiar -- i did not find an agreement where caltrans would be allowing sfmta to create a bulb-out. maybe it's a new proposal and hasn't come to our department, but i'm not aware of that. can you tell us about that and do you have any document asian on that? this m.t.a. report was provided to us from the planning department. we didn't go seek it ourselves. it was provided to us as a mandatory requirement. so i'm not sure that they didn't have it beforehand. >> i think staff is ba

another supervisor, katy tang, posted on her facebook page she wants pedestrians and drivers to become more familiar with the hawk beacon. the pedestrian activates the button that someone wants to walk and then it starts flashing and the signal turns solid ride. drivers must stop. while most did, a few impatient ones drove off while it was red. and we saw some, the children in this case, crossing without using the hawk system. once they are crossing, it goes to flashing red meaning they can proceed with caution. drivers didn't know what to do. because it's technically state highway 35, it's maintained by caltrans. the agency says the hawk crossing system works. >> they've actually been very effective. they're new so we're trying to get the word out how they work. >> reporter: in the meantime, supervisor yee is calling for hearings nex week to make our streets safer for pedestrians, especially senior citizens. in san francisco, abc7 news. >> when you see something where you live that's worth a story, take a picture, where you can do so safely. use social media to get our attention. nd>>

i am mennaca mohan a legislative aid for katie tang. thank you for hearing our legislation to attract small businesses. we are happy to partner with the supervisor's office to attract small businesses. your commission knows better than everyone opening a small business is long and confusing. this peeps piece of legislation addresses the change of use notification. given it is a confusing process, i thought i would walk through an example on the commercial district. right now, let's say a business owner wanted to open a restaurant in a space that used to be a clothing store or retail. under the zoning table we know the owner could look to see the restaurant are a permitted use with a p that is great. what the owner may not know they would have to do a 30-day notification for the change of use. they cannot open the shop until that process is completed. the change of use process is in planning code section 312. notices are mailed to people within 150 peopl 150 feet of th. notification period is 30-days. they can say they may not want the r
