i work with supervisor chan and former city supervisor katy tang.est 1 million to help businesses suffering on taraval. we are one city. we can help businesses who suffered last fall and those who continue to suffer today. we can look at the budget committee as if we were a emergency room where we triage the problems coming in and direct resources to the areas in code blee polk. i can say taraval is in code blue. it is at risk of dying. we must come together to help a major and vital part of the city. taraval extends from west portal to the ocean across two supervisor district. spend agportion of the funds to help taraval is about saving businesses which benefit the whole city. if people stop shopping on taraval and drive to daly city that is less tex tax revenue for all of us and why i think this is the right thing to do and thank you for your support. >> supervisor melgar. >> thank you chair chan. and thank you for your efforts in this piece of legislation. i want to also thank my colleague to the west supervisor engardio. the taraval commercial d

circle for me my former boss and malia accordingly had the first lactation room a few doors down and katie tang made three legislation in the state of california followed and we're proud that our local policy for exceeds any requirements and that is on par and under the policy all city departments are required to provide a lactation room at each of the work location with the lactation that the primary purpose of space, and, secondly, y use making may be allowed and not a restroom and notice to employees that the room is for a lactation and the city departments are to consult with the h.r. to make sure a sufficient designated lactation space including when napper constructing a new building or renovating a building will be a city work site and they update the lactation rooms and post it in the web to make sure that all places have - advise any of the implementation on the policy as needed as well. during the child's first year and into the second are required to allow employees the necessary time to express as much time at work as reasonable and regularly scheduled paid break or unprotected paid

i mean, i think, you know, we katie tang and i have spoken before about about how we might jointly purchase, um, telemetric data like that or credit card data, uh, on a, you know, to really track in real time the health of neighborhood commercial districts by naics code so that we can see, you know, the impact of our work, both positive and negative, and get a quicker signal, um, about impacts quicker than we can get from, for example, the sales tax data, which we do track. yeah. because then we can work together to really help, you know, um, make things as robust as we'd like. um, commissioner zunes or vice president sousanis. thank you. uh quick follow up to, uh, president huey's question about budget. um, i know that we've had a big federal infrastructure plan that's slowly trickling down to our municipalities, where you all able to, um, or any of the, like, rfps that have issued through the state or directly from, you know, department of transportation or whatnot, relevant to san francisco, were we able to acquire any of that and do we have a good state contact that we that we coordinat

katie tang from the office of small business here on behalf of the sponsor, mayor breed. so, um, let me go to the screen here. can we go to the computer? all right, so back in september of last year, this commission, uh, heard a piece of legislation that would reduce the number of barriers that small businesses experience when trying to open a new storefront or expand into a new space and also allow more businesses to open without going through the month long conditional use process by principally permitting more uses throughout the city and also reducing the ability for appeals to cause even longer delays and allow more business use. types to open on the ground floor to provide more options in filling vacant commercial ground floor spaces. uh, that legislation was , uh, adopted by the board of supervisors and took effect in mid january of this year. we've been really excited about those changes and have had businesses that we've been waiting for. that legislation to take effect. um, so thank you again for your support on that. so the legislation before you today is a dup
