katie utehs is live in the berkeley hills with a look at the damage. ie. >> reporter: the roof of this tree no match for mother nature with the soggy ground and the high winds in the berkeley hills, homeowners tell me the winds sounded very strange yesterday like it was coming through a wind tunnel. it was enough around 2:30 in the afternoon to knock over this massive monterey pine. it felt distance of three backyards. as you can see the top of the tree punched through the roof of that house. fortunately no one was injured at the time. nobody was home at the time that it crashed through the roof, and there was some damage to the backyard, some backyard items, but nobody injured. we spoke with the homeowner who owns this tree, and he says that it was actually inspected this year. the top of the limbs had been trimmed so he did everything right but still no match for mother nature, and we also spoke with a woman who lives in the home, the backyard where this tree fell from, and she described the winds yesterday as very eerie. she said after the tree fell
