nbc10's katy zachry is there. this is obviously a fluid situation. what are you hearing from first responders? >> reporter: first responders told me when they first drove up, they saw fire from one of the buildings. 40 people live inside. i'm told the people are older with disabilities so getting them quickly to safety was a top concern for first responders. staff had already been helping people out of the building. the fire started inside a room in smith hall on the campus. the initial call came in that someone was trapped in the end. firefighters found one person inside dead. investigators are not giving us at this time any information about the victim. neither are people here at the elwyn institute. a security guard and actually another employee were both taken to local hospitals for what i'm told at most minor injuries. more for observation at this time. now at 5:30 i'll have an update about the other people. the other individuals who are inside the building, smith hall, when the fire broke out. and where they are staying right now. reporting liv
