katy zachry's been getting us around that. katy? >> it is important for drivers who typically take montgomery avenue, instead of taking 76, because we know 76 gets backed up considerably around this time through the 8:00/8:30 hour. this is where it's happening. it's on the main line in narberth on montgomery avenue. the stretch of montgomery avenue between old gulph road and brookhurst avenue is closed right now because of that fire activity that you just saw from that live interview. an alternate around that is lancaster avenue. again, lancaster avenue can get pretty hectic this time of the morning. so, if this is part of your morning commute, you're going to want to add extra time, for sure. taking a look at our speeds, average speeds along 95 southbound headed into center city, philadelphia, right at cottman avenue, you're slowing to in the 30s. you pick back up around harbison, but you slow back down as you make your way to allegany and girard, in the 20s right now. of course, that's only going to creep lower as the morning rush

causing a slowdown out there. >> let's get an update from nbc 10's first alert traffic reporter katy zachry. what are you seeing, katy some. >> 76 eastbound we were dealing with a car fire, but that has since been put out and we're really just dealing with volume delays right now, and we're seeing them more 76 westbound. take a look. it's a little bit of a blurry shot, but you don't need it to be much clearer to see how delayed the westbound side is. look at those brake lights. so, 76 right near the conshohocken curve. and if you take a look at your drive time, 76 between the vine and the blue route, 32 minutes, and 21 minutes in the other direction. so, be prepared to wait if your commute is part of 76. now, we are following a new accident. this is in upper gwynedd valley, forge road near sumneytown pike, there's an accident there. and an accident in lower providence at north grange avenue at germantown pike. be aware of those. and for new jersey drivers in camden, i-676 right near mlk boulevard, there is an overturned vehicle. it is blocking things in the right lane. you can see traffic -

nbc 10's katy zachry is live in maple shade. katy, earlier you told us about a car, you showed us the car that police have blocked off. what else have you learned? >> reporter: yeah, well, vai, as you take a look behind me, you can see that police, each more so now, have blocked our view to a white, four-door sedan that seems to be their main focus out here. it is parked at the quality inn motel in maple shade right along route 38. i've talked to maped shade police and philadelphia police officers, and i'm told they are both investigating a murder. philadelphia police are not saying why or how they are involved, just that they are jointly investigating. we know that the victim was found some time yesterday, and police have been investigating since last night. motel guests are not being given much information either. instead, police are hoping that those guests can offer some valuable information. >> they came to my door like a little bit before 2:00 in the morning banging on my door and asking me where i was at and did i see anyt

but first, we'll check in with first alert traffic reporter katy zachry. good morning. >> good morning. it's slow going for drivers on the vine street expressway eastbound, as you can see behind me. there is an accident new into our system. it happened a short time ago, and it is creating some backups. i want to give you another look. this is from a traffic camera just behind the accident. again, it's right on the vine street expressway eastbound right at 24th street. if you're headed eastbound on 76 right before you hit the vine, if you're at 76 and spring garden, you'll start to see that backup. crews are out there. the two left lanes are blocked. they're trying to clear that, of course, ahead of the morning rush, as we're getting closer to it around the 6:00 hour. but if you look at the other majors throughout pennsylvania, 95, 76 and 476, your drive times look good on those. no issues to report there. and in germantown, we are following a fire. there's fire activity on coulter street on germantown avenue and lena street. you're asked to avoid that area

right now, nbc 10's katy zachry just arrived in maple shade just minutes ago. katy, what do we know at this point? >> reporter: chris, i've only been on the scene for a few minutes, but take a look behind me and i'll tell you what we know. we are right outside the quality inn along busy route 38 in maple shade, new jersey. there are several police officers and investigators still on the scene. they are in the parking lot focused on this white four-door sedan that just in the last few minutes police cars have blocked our direct view of. so, we know that they are focusing on this white, four-door sedan. what i'm hearing from maple shade police is that they are investigating what they at this time are calling a suspicious death. i'm told the victim was discovered last night. now, this suspicious death is somehow related to philadelphia police, because police there i've talked to in the city are part of this investigation. i've made calls to philadelphia homicide detectives as well as maple shade police, burlington county dispatch. very little information is being r

nbc 10's katy zachry is live outside police headquarters in center city with more on what the commissioner is asking of his officers following the latest violence against police. katy? >> reporter: hi, tracy. when we talked to commissioner ramsey, he told us he wants his officers to do three things when they're on patrol here in philadelphia. to be vigilant, measured, but not to overreact. now, philadelphia's top cop is in the national spotlight, as you said. president obama chose commissioner ramsey as one of two leaders of the task force on 21st-century policing. it was created after the violence and police protests in ferguson, missouri. and over the last few weeks, the protests against police conduct have multiplied across the country. >> hopefully, this tragedy now makes everybody take a step back and think about what they're doing, think about what they're saying. this is a time for thoughtful discussion. and i don't want to lose that opportunity for that discussion to take place. >> reporter: and the commissioner goes on to talk about an incident this weekend in north philadelphia a

nbc 10's katy zachry is live to explain. tell us more. >> reporter: hi, tracy.is exciting for a lot of people. we are just a few months away from philadelphia rolling out its bike share program, but we got a sneak peek at what the bikes are going to look like and how this program is going to work. so, when the program rolls out this coming spring, there will be 700 bikes stocked at various locations throughout philadelphia. riders will purchase a monthly membership pass online that organizers say will not cost more than a few dollars a month. the idea is when you want a low-cost way of getting around, you will hop on one of these bikes, ride it to your destination, then drop it off at a nearby dock. >> and the easy way we describe that is, if it's too far to walk, if it's too short or inconvenient to ride transit or it's going to be too hard to park, it's a perfect trip for bike share. >> reporter: now, when you take one of these bikes, you will have it for about an hour. an hour, actually, to be exact. and the idea is that it is an efficient and affordable way

nbc 10's katy zachry is live just outside of police headquarters in center city with more on what the commissioner is now asking of his officers following this latest violence against police. katy? >> reporter: hi, rosemary. commissioner ramsey is asking his officers here in philadelphia to be vigilant, measured and not overreact. he tells us that is exactly how a group of officers reacted in north philadelphia this weekend when a gunman showed up at a bar on cottman avenue and began firing shots toward police. without firing back, he tells us officers were able to take the gunman into custody and no police officers were injured. commissioner ramsey tells us he has been concerned about the protests in recent weeks and the ripple effect they could have. >> we do have some violent people, and it doesn't take very much to have them go off. so, i was concerned that it could trigger a very negative response on the part of a very few, and here we are now with this tragedy. >> reporter: commissioner ramsey also has some poignant comments about the two police officers who were killed this wee

nbc 10's katy zachry reports in wynnefield heights where the incident started. >> reporter: philadelphia police say the man you see on this stretcher was abducted from his wynnefield heights home and brought to this building in olney where inside at least two men wearing masks violently beat him. nbc 10 was the only station there to see officers rescue the missing man. they also took at least one person into custody. we're not showing you his face because he hasn't been charged, but he did have blood on both hands. >> a little unnerving, just the fact people are looking for him and want to use that much force to actually subdue him is unnerving, especially when it's right next door. >> reporter: sarah and her husband live next door to the victim. >> we haven't had too many interactions with him. >> reporter: her husband woke up overnight to police sirens. officers told them their neighbor was missing. not far from their home we found another scene. police say they're holding these two cars for evidence after guns were found in both. and adjust got off the phone with southwest detectives.

but for now, we'll check in with first alert traffic reporter katy zachry. >> good morning. we're seeing rain throughout our area and fog. this is a live look behind me up in the lehigh valley of route 309 and 22. you can see very slick roadways. we are seeing a number of headlights on the road. not increased volume at this hour, but still, traffic that is out there is having to move pretty slowly because of the areas of dense fog and the rain coming down. your area bridges look pretty clear, other than the long-term construction eastbound on the ben. the tacony-palmyra and betsy look good. the walt whitman bridge looks good as well. there is a closure to tell you about on 76. the on-ramps from spring garden to east and westbound 76, they are closed because of long-term construction project. and finally, if you're heading out to the airport, unfortunately, philadelphia airport is seeing a delay right now. tracy? >>> we have first alert team coverage of what's happening with holiday travel and how the weather's impacting it. nbc 10's jesse gary is live on the roads right now

. >> katy zachry is watching the roads. any areas to avoid? >> a bunch of areas to avoid. and unfortunately some fortunat flooding has evaporated. but there is a vehicle fire 76 eastbound near belmont avenue. it's a blurry shot. penndot has changed the shot. i did have a shot showing you you the intense backup just a ton of volume, wet roadways and this vehicle fire on 76. 76 eastbound between the blue route and vine, it will take you 46 minutes and it's not anymore forgiving if you're going west bond. fortunately, for drivers who are trying to access the vine street expressway eastbound via the the ben franklin parkway, that on ramp was flooded for hours. that has since cleared and reopened. so good new there is. taking a look up in the lehigh valley, 22 at airport road, we are seeing wet roadways. and then flooding in mt. laurel township for new jersey drivers. is this union mill road between briggs road and hartford road, the road is closed. and also we're seeing some flooding route 30 between delilah road and indiana avenue. one lane blocked there. >>> new information
