"nbc 10's" katy zachry got on the scene in bustleton. what can you tell us, katy? >> reporter: we are as close as we can get to the scene. if you were to go a little further down krewstown road sky force 10 is over the scene, you'll see a philadelphia police cruiser that around 5:30 this morning smashed into a guardrail along the 8800 block of krewstown road. that officer has a pretty bad head injury i'm told from people at the scene and an officer who just came to our live truck to give me information, that the officer has a pretty significant bump on his head from his head hitting the windshield upon impact. now this officer was headed to a robbery in progress call in the bustleton section of the city. this stretch krewstown is extremely narrow windy and hilly. he obviously had some speed as he was heading to that call and for some reason he lost control. police are obviously looking into what led to that but his car is the only vehicle involved in this one-vehicle crash. he was taken to areatoresdale hospital where at this time he may be admitted for the injury

katy zachry just gone on the scene. what have you seen and what can you tell us? >> reporter: we pulled as close as we could to the house fire because there's a large hose next to us extending to the scene. and you can looking at the back of the ladder truck, but the ladder is extended to the second floor of this home. this fire broke out along wister drive near thornberry drive. heavy vir was showing when they first arrived. formally, the family who lives inside did get out unharmed. now this neighborhood sits behind the cheltenham mall to give you an idea of the location. peco was here and they turned off power just to the house because of the fire. so fortunately power is not out for other homes along this stretch, they are not affected by the power outage. the fire marshall is on the scene looking into the cause of the fire now. over the next few minutes we'll try to get closer to the scene with a better picture and hopefully i'll be able to ascertain in terms of investigation and cause of the fire what they are looking at right now. reporting live in cheltenh
