right now, katy zachry has first alert traffic. katy? i'm happy to report that drive times throughout the majors in pennsylvania, 95, 76, 476 looking good. i want to focus in on 202. 202, no issues to report, no overnight construction. if you're headed between route 30 and 76 headed northbound or southbound, you have a smooth ride ahead of you. also taking a look at the new jersey turnpike right now, if you're headed between route 1 and the exit for valley forge, it will only take you 23 minutes in both directions. none of that overnight construction is tieing anything up on the turnpike in pennsylvania. heads up for drivers in and around the philadelphia area who may take the falls bridge in east falls, that closed yesterday. it's scheduled to re-open in ç april. they're doing emergency bridge repair work. it is open to bikers and walkers. if you drive, you're out of luck there. taking a live look in south philadelphia, 95 at island avenue around the airport, if you're headed to the airport, you're going to want to call ahead. from wha

nbc 10's katy zachry is live for us. katy, it looks like visibility is rather low where you are as well. >> low visibility we've encountered. we were earlier in wayne and we just over the last half hour moved west along lancaster ave. we went from delaware to lancaster. we encountered thicker fog and less visibility on the roadway. to add to the issues of the fog this morning it now started raining and it's a pretty moderate rain. if you're headed out the door, you want to add plenty to f time to your morning commute. you will have to go slower. we are seeing dense fog, widespread fog that's really hampering the way you can drive. you need to have your low beams on our fog lights on. you cannot use your high beams. one thing i wanted to ill straits for you, areas that are snow-covered, you're going to be experiencing more fog because as bill mentioned in his report as that warm air has moved in, it's getting cold by the snow that's on the ground and that's creating that fog and heat. that's just adding to the issues this

nbc 10's katy zachry is live in allentown with what we know about the injured officer and a connection between this shooting and a recent homicide. katy? >> trp, some very tense situations overnight. the police chief tells us that his injured officer is in, quote, good condition. he's actually being treated here and he's recovering here at lehigh valley hospital. this is also where the alleged shooter is, because he was shot as well. now, around 10:00 last night, an allentown police officer with the criminal investigations division was serving a search warrant related to a weekend homicide in this city. the officer was about to search a property on north godfrey street when someone inside the apartment, we're told, started firing at police. one officer was hit in the arm. police fired back and a suspect inside the apartment was hit. now, of aa standoff, police were able to take the suspect into custody. we have also learned that police were at that location because they were following up leads from a weekend homicide where a woman's body was found stuffed sunday night in a recycling bi

katy zachry is live to explain what happened. katy? >> here's the scene of that deadly house fire.you can see in the last few hours the windows have been boarded up. her husband also tried to save her. he was yelling the victim's name outside the home, trying to go inside but the fire was too strong. here's video of the fire. it was taken during the height of it, recorded by a neighbor across the street. she tells us about a half hour before she had seen the victim playing outside with her granddaughter. investigators at this hourç ar not releasing the name of the woman killed though neighbors have told us who it is but out of respect for the family and waiting on investigators, we are withholding it at this time. now she was the only person inside the home at the time. her husband right now is at crozer-chester medical center being treated for burns he sustained trying to get into the fire to save her. there are unanswered questions about how this fire started, the cause of it. coming up in the next hour, you'll hear from neighbors what happened in the minutes before the house wa

nbc 10's katy zachry is live in sharon hill with the details. aty, i know we're trying to get details overnight. what do you know? >> well, tracy, this is a developing story. we were last told when the morning sergeant gets in he should have more information for us on this police-involved shooting. here is what we do know. we know a man was shot at 69 barker avenue last night and he was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. and we know that police who their weapon. the questions we still need answered this morning, were they called -- why were they called to the home in the first place? what happened that prompted the officer to open fire? and what is the condition of the man shot? he was shot in the chest, a single gunshot wound to the chest we're told and he was rushed to the hospital. those are questions we're asking throughout the morning and hope to get more information when that sergeant does come in in just a little bit. reporting live in sharon hill, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. >>> this morning, philadelphia police are se

. >> nbc 10's katy zachry is live in university city. believe the first amtrak train pulled out a few minutes ago. >> yes, it did. here at 30th street station, no reported delays or cancellations because of the weather. septa checked in with them not long ago. they're warning their riders to be careful and use caution when boarding trains, buses and trolleys because of slippery conditions likely. speaking of slippery conditions, i'll tell you what we've experienced. the snow here outside 30th street station in the philadelphia area has changed over from the big, lighter flakes to smaller flakes that are a more driving and sleet-like consistency. not sticking to the roadways, which is good. still, the roads are pretty slick. we'll swing it around, showing you the schuylkill expressway right now. traffic is moving definitely slower than it was even a half hour ago. drivers are aware of the conditions. we're seeing a number of plows pile on to 76 and other interstates. they're poised and ready to lay salt when the snow does start sticking.

katy zachry is live at the scene. what can you tell us? >> tracy, it has been a busy morning for philadelphia firefighters so far. this is the most recent fire, the second one they've dealt with in the last hour. as we push in to this structure in the middle of the block. this is a vacant structure. no one was inside. the fire broke out here on the first and second floor about 45 minutes ago. when firefighters got here, they then found the fire had transferred to a portion of the building to the left of it, also vacant, unoccupied, no one inside. that's the good news. now, as we pan off to the right, you can see this lit building here, that was occupied. people are currently living in there. they were evacuated just to be safe but fire fortunately did not transfer over to that structure. there have been no injuries reported from this fire along 5th and burke street. firefighters have it under control.ç they are just finishing putting out hot spots and plan on wrapping up the scene. a half hour, 45 minutes before this fire broke out, let's

nbc 10's katy zachry is live in allentown to explain. katy, i know we got that new information just within the past half hour. fill us in. >> reporter: we are getting new information by the hour on this case. you mentioned that stanoff. during the standoff, many people in this apartment complex you're about to see were evacuated. we're told they are now back in their apartment homes. we have a live picture from the scene, just across town from where i am. i'm at the hospital. around 10:00 last night, an allentown police officer with the criminal investigations division was following leads from a weekend homicide. the officer was serving a search warrant onç a property on nort godfrey street when we're told gunfire erupted from inside one of the apartments, shots fired at police and this officer was hit in the arm. a suspect, the shooter was also hit, too, by return gunfire from police. both men are expected to recover. this is all connected, we've learn, to a weekend murder that occurred in allentown of a woman whose body was found stuff

nbc 10's katy zachry is live in boothwyn with what neighbors say happened minutes before the house caughton fire. katy? >> reporter: tracy, one thing neighbors say is you could feel the heat from the fire all the way across the street where i'm standing here.ç now, over the last few hours, as you can see, the home badly damage has been boarded up. there was one person inside when the flames started yesterday. neighbors say the woman lived at this home for years and was known throughout the neighborhood. her husband was not inside the house when the fire started. but he was seen outside in the yard yelling her name and trying to get in past the flames to rescue her. >> it's very painful. especially when someone just a half hour prior to that i saw her with her beautiful blond hair out in the backyard playing with her grand child, then to see her on a stretcher. >> reporter: and at this hour, investigators are still not releasing the name of the woman who died. her husband is being treated at the hospital this morning for burns he sustained while trying to get into the fire. now, coming up

. >> nbc 10's katy zachry is live in warrenton township, bucks county where the snow piles are stillaround from the blizzard of 2016. that could cause issues today nc nchz. >> definitely, tracy. there are businesses throughout our area after the storm we had that have massive snow piles. i was even walking on some. they are rock solid but let me tell you after the record warmth we're expecting later today, a lot of this will start melting. couple that with the rain we're getting in some areas intense driving rain for long periods of time. there's a big concern in some parts about flooding. now, flooding especially in areas where there is poor drainage. it's something that people will want to look out for today. if you're walking your child to the bus stop, make sure that drains in your area, on your street may be clear of debris and if they're not, call your local township or public works department. that's something that public works department, streets department and police departments are going to be on the lookout for today. flooding could be a concern in some major areas, especi

nbc 10's katy zachry is live in stormforce 10. you're in doylestown. what are the roads like there?>> yes, we are in the county seat of bucks county. doylestown, tracy, between horsham and doylestown we encountered light rain as we made our way north on 611. here's in doylestown if you look to the left and right of your screen as we pass through main street, you can see a light dusting of snow on all of the cars parked along the road. the sidewalks, though, we're keeping our eye out for sidewalks and local roads for overnight icing. we've been put on alert for that. that can be obviously dangerous as kids make their way to school in the morning an parents make their way to work. we haven't fond any icy patches quite yet. we might encounter those more north and west of where we are. that's where we're headed towards quakertown and allentown right now. penndot has salt trucks and plows throughout the area, southeastern pennsylvania, poised and ready to attack any of the flakes that come down, especially for the morning rush. i've checked in with septa to see if there are travel alerts

katy zachry is live in warrenton to explain more. >> it's early february.as bill said, we're talking about record temperatures, temperatures in the low to mid-60s. normally we'd be celebrating that but take a look behind me because this is a reality for so many people, whether it's in your yard, whether it's in your business. mounds and piles of snow. of course, with the record temperatures, much of this snow is going to melt. couple that with the rain that we're going to get, starting in some parts later this morning and really intensifying this afternoon and over into the evening hours. that coupled with the warm weather is just going to wash so much of this water into areas. so where are the concerned areas? areas where there's poor drainage, large parking lots like where we are, there are very few drains. this is a major concern for a lot of people throughout our coverage area. over the next hour i'll be calling public works departments and areas where they don't have goodç drainage to find out wha they're doing to prevent massive flooding problems thr
