katz: go ahead. dr. dzau: we did a recent analysis looking at the amount of money we spent on medical care. we all know we are the most expensive country in the world, right? but if you look at medical care -- social care, we are a lot of countries spend money on social care. that reduces the need for medical care, so the cost of care is so huge. i think we have it backwards sometimes. we need to keep people in the community healthy, give them services they need. good segue from victor, and i might drill down on this revelation about medicare and turn it back over. y for often drives decisions that people have to make. if only one thing is paid for -- and in this situation 50 years when medicare was written into law, it did not have a drug program, and it had no really social support system built around it, and medicare does not pay for long-term care. so you combine those three this innd you combine today's environment where we do not have end-of-life described as a finite activity any longer, even the

and documentarian sam katz. >> good morning. >> we're starting off talking about some brown university. they found it to be the most partisan county of all places. they call it an exurban county, pretty well-to-do, pretty well educated, lots of different business firms. but listen to some of these figures -- 49% think dold

it's by a guy named jack katz and what it is is about the judges in the fifth circuit in the south who had to implement these decisions. judges who courageously took on the entire ingrained segregated world and we thought that there were judges in the south that could do that, are there judges nowadays who are prepared to take on the fossil fuel industry? the other cases we looked at were the tobacco cases and we all know that the tobacco industry was very big. doubt is their product. and that's a book i david michaels but the whole theme for the tobacco industry is selling uncertainty. based on the documents we have gathered and we've received from independent sources, the same public relations folks, the same lobbying outfits that were dealing with tobacco were in parallel dealing with the oil companies. so the other cases they were looking at to track are the cases involving wall street. my partner joe just wrote a book, people versus 30 and that's what's really going on out there. we are trying to express problems that wall street wants to continue to exist so how do we do that? ho

i've been working with your colleague bruce katz on this notion of new american localism as i kick offwhat we're calling the children's funding project you can too quick facts and the question. i tracked 14 ballot measures on the local level in places like rural ohio, suburban kansas city, et cetera. this november where 11 of those places elected to tax themselves to pay for children's services. people literally come out of the pulsing iphoto for trump and about for the children's services fund. that's very promising to me. the other thing is that there are eight children services council in florida. many of them had to go back for reauthorization. first time around some ten, 15 years ago they can write about half the vote and pass. this time then the accountability structures in place. people trust him like he talked about, and they are winning between 76-82%. and property tax lord of voters. so question, children are very popular. you talk about children in your book and any advice for me as i kick off this to project? >> well, thank you for a great question. i should've talk more ab
