i almost passed out when i saw myself agreeing with brett kavanaugh on this, but kavanaugh's positionively hurts not only us but generations to come. >> that's right. so it was a 9-0 decision with respect to whether the particular landowner in this case wins. she won. but it is a 5-4 decision with respect to how to read the clean water act. and like you said, even brett kavanaugh said the way the majority would read -- the clean water act was very bad. so, first of all, what you have to understand is the problem you have with water policy is that if i do something outside my home, the next time it rains, it might go down a storm drain and wind up in a reservoir somewhere. you know, toxins travel. and you need to have a way to prevent them from traveling to rivers. or other important bodies of water. this case primarily deals with wetlands. essentially what this case said is that more than half of the wetlands in this country are no longer protected by the clean water act. and that's a huge deal because these wetlands act as filters that filter out a lot of the toxins that are making t

conduct described and and also a chapter on christine blasey ford and her testimony against brett kavanaugh and i interviewed anita hill at great length for this book. and one of the things that she pointed out to me is that almost nothing had changed in the intervening years from her testimony before the senate judiciary committee and the testimony of christine blasey ford. and to be really clear, anita hill has done nothing in those intervening years. but think about systems and processes and how to fix them. she wrote, i think a singularly important new york times piece before dr. ford was called on to testify, in which she said do to her what was done to me. and as you may recall, exactly the same thing was done to dr. ford, except that they put the sex crimes prosecutor who was supposed to cross-examine her because it was all white men on the republican side of the senate. they put her in like the naughty girl chair at the front of the room, and she was supposed to cross-examine in dr. ford. and that absolved the folks from having to make eye contact with her and actually speak to her.
