the latest from the investigation, randi kaye joins us now. the autopsy, toxicology results not made public yet. but there is plenty talking about possible criminal charges. what's going on? >> this has been going on for weeks, whether or not somebody would be charged in this case. possibly criminal charges. "the l.a. times" quoting a senior law enforcement official is reporting michael jackson's death will likely not result in murder charges against any of his former doctors. we have confirmed independently, investigators are working their way down a list of jackson's doctors trying to figure out who prescribed what, when and whether or not any of these drugs were prescribed under false names. they want to know if any of these drugs may have contributed to his death. i spoke to the d.a.'s office again today asking about murder charges or criminal charges and was told, quote, it is all speculation. i was told the case has not been presented to the district attorney to consider charges and there is no telling when that might happen. all of this

randi kaye, thank you. digging deeper now into not only the sheer magnitude of the drugs but also the type and how anyone could get to this point. we'll bring in sanjay gupta. when you listen to some of the that information that she just gave us, as many as ten xanax a night down from 30 to 40, how is that possible someone could take that much of this drug? >> nothing about this has been normal or usual. the first thing that struck me as a doctor is i want to know what the dosage of these pills were. leaving that aside, no matter how you cut it, this is an extremely high dose of xanax. typically what happens, erica, in situations like this. people start off taking a few and take more and more and build up tolerance. that's something that people are familiar with. you eventually get to a point where you're taking more and more. when we study addiction for a cnn special, one of the pain doctors said he had a patient that took 80 vicodin a day, a night. you can get to that point. it is very, very rare, but it

randi kaye has been breaking stories all week long. she joins us once again with a "360" exclusive live from los angeles. you're learning disturbing details into michael jackson's alleged drug history. what are you finding? >> erica, i have right here actually a confidential police document. this is from the santa barbara county sheriff's office. it is from 2004. it contains confidential interviews done with two of michael jackson's former security guards, interviews done in preparation for the child molestation case against jackson. he was acquitted in that case, you may recall, but there is plenty right here that really paints a very dark picture of jackson's apparent drug habit and the sophisticated operation that was in place to apparently help him get the drugs and the doctors he may have been getting those drugs from. we are not naming the security guards, but according to this document that we have, one of them told investigators jackson was taking, quote, ten-plus zanax pills a night. and he said that he expressed concerns abou

randi kaye is back with that information.ou spoke with dick gregory, a friend of michael jackson. >> yes, they met decades ago when they were doing "the wiz" together. he told me jackson's parents called him and said michael wasn't well, can he come and help him. a few days before the trial ended, dick gregory told me he went back to neverland with michael jackson, jackson hugged him and said please don't leave me, they're trying to kill me. gregory said he asked jackson when the last time he ate was and that jackson told him, they're trying to poison me. he asked him when he last drank water, he said, again, they're trying to kill me. >> so what did gregory do? >> he tried to help him as quickly as he could. he insisted jackson go to the hospital. he was paranoid that someone was after him. he drove him to a small hospital about ten miles or so away from neverland without announcing that he was coming. gregory told me that jackson was given fluids to hydrate him from 5:30 in the evening until 5:30 in the morning the next day

i want to go to randi kaye from our sister network cnn. randi, you had an interview, just an eye opening interview with a fire captain talking about what paramedics went through as they tried to save michael jackson's life? >> reporter: i did. i spoke with the captain at the l.a. fire department, he told me when the paramedics on the scene michael jackson was not breathing and he had no pulse. the way he put it, and i'm quoting here, he said he was in dire need of help. we know the 911 call came in at 12:22 p.m. on that yoofr noon of june 25th. the call i'm told by this fire captain last 32 seconds. it then took the paramedics 3 minutes and 17 seconds to get to michael jackson's house. there were four paramedics in all. and that mr. jackson as he put it got what he called the hall lu yeah package. they worked on him for 42 minutes, mike, at the house. they usually do something called scoop and run where they pick up and transport right away. but they didn't do that in this case, i'm told, because dr. conrad murray, his personal physician,

that point to the possibility that michael jackson had drug problems going back years and our randi kayein los angeles for us tonight with that along with former cnn anchor, jim moret, now chief correspondent for "inside edition," as well as dr. jorge rodriguez, a board-certified internist joining us as well to help give some clarity on this. you heard joe jackson there alleges foul play. we've had the lapd saying, basically, they're not ruling out homicide. what do we really know? >> well, i think what the lapd chief said was that they're waiting for the coroner's report to corroborate the cause of death. that implies they have a strong suspicion about what that is. and that suspicion, of course, all along has been drugs. saying foul play is not inconsistent with what the l.a. police chief is saying. they're clearly looking at the abuse of prescription drugs. that doesn't mean murder or perhaps negligent homicide, manslaughter. if doctors were overprescribing and using aliases and giving him huge amounts of drugs, you could have a crime. >> in the last 24 hours, you have uncovered some

and anita kaye, a defense attorney and former prosecutor. natisha, let's start with you. 2004, all this stuff that's coming out. what are we learning now about michael jackson and prescription drugs? >> just like you mentioned, vinnie, we're hearing that michael jackson took ten xanax pills a night. this is coming from one security guard, when he found out about this information he went to another staffer who said, michael jackson's actually doing a lot better because he used to be taking 30 to 40 pills a night to get to sleep. >> 30 to 40 a night? >> 30 to 40 pills per night to get to sleep, to get some rest. and he was down to ten a night. they were saying he was actually order to get his hands on some these prescription medications. this one security guard also talked about an incident where michael jackson was in a hotel, he fell on his face. he confronted michael jackson saying he needed to get help. michael jackson denied having a problem. the security guard ended up leaving because he was being asked to get prescriptions for michael j

and this report by cnn's randi kaye. >> we have a gentlemen here that needs help. he has stopped breathing. >> reporter: cnn has now learned disturbing new details about what precisely police investigators found when they answered the 911 call from jackson's house 12 days ago. a source involved with the investigation tells us that jackson had, quote, numerous track marks on his arm. and that those marks, quote, could certainly be consistent with the regular i.v. use of a drug like diprivan. diprivan is the powerful sedative xhont used in anesthesia in a hospital. a nurse who had work for jackson told cnn he had begged her for diprivan a few months ago so he could sleep. our sources can't say if this caused the track marks on his arms. some of the marks appeared fresh. others, older. in fact, some of the newest marks could have within caused when emergency medical personnel rushed into the house and used their own i.v.s in an effort to save him. the source would not confirm if diprivan had been found with jackson. he told us numerous bottles of prescription medicati

but first let's go to cnn's randi kaye with breaking news on dr. conrad murray and what investigators were looking for when they executed search warrants yesterday. randi, what happened? >> reporter: larry, as you know, there were two search warrants executed in las vegas, one is dr. conrad murray's home and the other in his clinic. those were filed today. so now the information on what they were looking for and what they found has been made public. i can tell you according to the warrants, detectives were looking for evidence demonstrating crimes of excessive prescribing and prescribing to an addict. also, manslaughter. evidence of manslaughter. now the addict that they seem to be referring to in this case is michael jackson. but here's the key detail of the search warrant. it says that they were looking for any information related to propofol or diprivan, very powerful sedative that authorities, as you know, believe killed michael jackson. it was found reportedly in his bedroom. i can tell you what the search warrant says, looking for records, sh

joining us, randi kaye from cnn. ran randi's been all over this. get us up to date on the custody battle. >> there was a lot of drama today. the york post" reporting that debbie rowe has reached a deal apparently in exchange for the two kids she had with michael jackson, $4 million apparently heading her way. the newspaper also said she would forfeit her parental rights, all of this according to a family source supposedly. cnn, we called debbie rowe's attorney to ask if the story was true and we were told "completely false." that was print this had morning. but hours later her attorney as the drama continues to unfold, demanded a retraction and sent a letter which i have right here. it reads in part "this letter constitutes a demand for an immediate retraction and goes on to say there has been no agreement reached between ms. rowe and the jackson and she will not give up her parental rights. also that no decision has been made on custody or visitation. the letter says an agreement hasn't been reached. we reported last night a deal is being brokere

a fire captain tells cnn's randi kaye that paramedics worked on him for 42 minutes at the singer's house. dr. murray decided not to immediately take jackson to the hospital. >> he took responsibility at the scene, this fire captain told me. he was in charge. he was calling the shots. he decided it was best to work on him there for 42 minutes and tried to get him breathing on the scene. the captain said when he's hopeless and not breathing there are many things the paramedics can do to get him breathing again. they gave him oxygen, medicines he would not name. nothing seemed to work. again, this was treatment that was prescribed at the scene and that's why he wasn't reported. >> randi kaye reporting there. meanwhile a source tells cnn a final report on awe top said and death will be released next week. earlier it was said the reports might be released this week. so that seems to have changed. >>> swine flu might be even worse for women who are pregnant. that is new this morning from the cdc. now it says that 6% of the h1n1 deaths were related. it causes changes to the immune system that c

randi kaye from our sister network cnn. first off, do we know what they were looking for, what they took out of the offices there? >> we do know what they took. we can tell you that they took a forensic image. this is according to his lawyer, to dr. conrad murray's lawyer. he said the investigators took a forensic image of a business computer hard drive. along with 21 documents. he also made a point of saying that these 21 documents, this was paperwork that had not been previously requested by the lapd, or even by the coroner's office investigators. so there is something curious about that. we know that they issued this search warrant. they went in there, the raid was completed by about 12:30 or so this afternoon houston time. this was done by homicide detectives from the lapd robbery homicide unit, by houston police and the federal drug agents. and we're told by dr. murray's lawyer that the search warrant authorized law enforcement, this is really key here, to search and seize items, including documents that they believed

cnn's randi kaye reports. 4 >> reporter: a federal law enforcement official telling us now that, quoteray is the only one they're looking at. now, we know that other doctors' records have been subpoenaed, but clearly now with three search warrants now served on dr. conrad murray's property, he has become the central focus. remember his lawyer told us that they were searching those properties looking for evidence in the offense of manslaughter. dr. murray's lawyer's office told me they don't think an arrest is imminent because they haven't seen a proof or even a final autopsy report. also murray's loan from the bank for his country club home was $1.6 million. he failed to make his payment of just over $15,000 last january and has been racking up debt ever since. i called his attorney about this. his spokeswoman confirmed he is facing the threat of foreclosure and told me, quote, he was to be paid $150,000 a month by michael jackson. he was not paid by aeg, that's the tour promoter, or jackson, for the two months he worked for them, so he is low on money. meanwhile, if dr. murray fails t

two reports now, first, cnn's randi kaye in los angeles. >> reporter: i have right here a confidential document from 2004 from the santa barbara county sheriff department here in california and it contains confidential interviews that were done with two of michael jackson's former security guards. these interviews were done in preparation for the child molestation case of which michael jackson was acquitted of that. but it really paints a dark picture of his apparent drug habit. we are not naming security guards who are mentioned in this document, but according to it, one of them told investigators that jackson was taking "ten plus xanax pills a night." when he expressed concerns about that to another one of jackson's employees he was told "jackson was doing better because he was down from 30 to 40 xanax pills a night." this is information coming directly from his security guards at that time. one of the guards told investigators that he would get the xanax prescriptions at pharmacies under a fictatious names including the security guards own names and the other security guard backed t
