we appreciate it kay kayla. >>> sarah breaking news on the stimulus negotiations.st got off the phone with, republicans are in the process of now refining a new so-called skinny stimulus proposal that could be released among members of the republican party in congress as soon as this week according to two senior administration officials and three people briefed on the matter. the white house and gop leaders are now looking to propose a approval $500 billion aid package that would fund only the core programs where support has been bipartisan. that includes expanded unemployment benefits, which one senior administration official tells me could be proposed at $400 a week. that number has been moving in recent days. it would include a new authorization for ppp loans for small businesses it would include funding for schools, for coronavirus testing and for vaccines developed under operation warp speed despite the popularity of those programs that i just listed, each of the five sources i spoke with was doubtful the skinny package goes anywhere. of course we heard the ch

airlines best performing group in the s&p right now kayla tausche with the details kayla. >> sara, 16 republican senators wrote a letter today to senate leadership advocating for a new $25 billion payroll support program for the airlines because of how little traffic has been recouped in recent months as americans remain fearful of traveling an as flight schedules still remain well below 2019 levels sixteen senators advocated for a fresh round of a similar program for airline adjacent businesses like concessions and manufacturing who are suffering for the same reason. we should note this was part of the c.a.r.e.s. act it's been fully exhausted and many of these airlines warned they could lay off large fractions of their workforce beginning october 1st if this isn't renewed. this was not part of gop proposal the heals act released last week the support from such a large share of the republican party does give majority leader mitch mcconnell some political cover to offer this to democrats while they try to figure out where common ground lies as they negotiate the next stimulus package.

although one would imagine if we, i don't know, kayla, end this weekend without anything, or any prospect of a deal soon, there's got to be a broader response maybe we have to look to the ten-year yield for that. >> it's hard to imagine with the backstop of the federal reserve and the $7 trillion in authorizationed programs it would be similar to what we saw in march and to when the tarp vote failed in 2008 given the fire power of what the government programs have already done the white house has said that it has urgency as of tomorrow if congress hasn't reached a deal if both sides haven't come together, that the president would issue by executive order extensions for some of the programs like the eviction moratorium or potentially a suspension of the payroll tax advocated by stephen moore speaker pelosi points out anything with a dollar sign needs to be authorized by congress the president is limited in what we can do in sending out money and even she said the eviction protections without being able to put money into people's hands so they can pay their landlords will cause one part of

let's get to kayla for the latest kayla? >> hey, melissa. this breaking news is on the stimulus negotiations. republicans are refining a skinny stimulus package to be released among members of the republican parties according to two senior administration officials and three people briefed on the matter. they are looking to propose a $500 billion aid package to fund only the core programs where support is bipartisan. that includes expanded unelement employme -- unemployment benefits that could go as high as $400 a week. it would also fund an authorization for ppp loans for small businesses and funding for schools, testings and vaccines developed under operation warp speed. now, despite the popularity of those programs that i just listed that would be part of this smaller package, each of these five sources i spoke with was doubtful this skinny package goes anywhere. earlier today the white house chief of staff mark meadows suggested that democrats could seek to combine any sort of stimulus negotiations with a month end funding deadline for th
