the list includes oakland's mia kaylyn. 16 year old figure skater trains at the yerba buena ice center in san francisco. last year, she accomplished something no other female skater ever had in the 2024 olympics. she landed a clean quad jump. that's four rotations in the air before landing. and then another skater with her heights on milne is 19 year old alysa liu. she's already had a very successful career, you know, her becoming the youngest u.s. figure skating champion in 2019, repeated in 2020 and then was part of the team usa in beijing 2022. and then she dropped out. she just quit. lieu says she felt like she was missing out on time with family and friends, and she vowed that she would never skate again for two years, she'd never put her skates on. but then in january of 2024, she gave it a try at an open skate in yerba buena ice center. and then she relearned old jumps and teamed up again with her coaches. last month, she came in second at u.s. nationals. lieu says she now has the balance in her life that she was mis
