here's kayna whitworth. >> reporter: tonight, a break in the infamous murder case of tupac shakur. >> this is the indictment we've been waiting almost three decades for. >> reporter: after nearly 30 years, police arresting duane davis, known as "keefe d," charging him with murder. authorities say it was davis' own public comments that reinvigorated the case in 2018. >> you said the shots came from the back. who shot tupac? >> gonna keep it for the code of the streets. it just came from the backseat, bro. >> reporter: tonight, authorities accusing him of being the shot caller who provided the gun and orchestrated the 1996 hit on tupac in retaliation for this incident where tupac and others beat up davis' nephew. >> come out with your hands up. >> reporter: just two months ago, police raided davis' home. abc news the first to obtain the body camera video. >> we obtained information during that execution on that search warrant that corroborated information obtained through our investigation. >> reporter: authorities say this was the last chance and he's set to appear in court next week.

kayna whitworth is in los angeles with those details. good morning, kayna. >> reporter: good morning. the hollywood writers strike is officially over. the nearly 150-day strike ending one minute after midnight. the union securing some major wins here. details have been sparce until now, but here's what we know so far. this three-year deal outlines a 12.5% pay increase starting with a 5% bump when the contract is ratified. one of the sticking points involved royalties. the writers secured a 76% increase for their foreign streaming residuals. another big win for these members, studios and streamers will have to hire a minimum number of writers on projects. the final issue, arguably the most important, revolved around ai. artificial intelligence. they established guidelines regarding the use of ai. sag aftra still on strike. but they hope hollywood is back up and running six to eight weeks. >> kayna, thank you very much. kayna will be back with an abc exclusive. she spoke with the mother and fiancee of the los angeles sheriff deputy killed i

kayna whitworth is in los angeles with the numbers. ning, kayna. >> reporter: michael, good morning. it is not great out here. typically, we see gas prices go down this time of year. the exact opposite is happening. they are sky rocketing. you can see at this station behind me. $7.69 for a gallon of regular. we actually saw gas prices jump some $0.20 in just 48 hours. aaa says that nine western states are actually paying more than $4 a gallon at the pump. but that pain is being felt across the board by americans. in fact, the national average for a gallon of gas is now at $3.87 which is more than $0.20 higher than a year ago. so why are gas prices climbing? saudi arabia and russia have cut production, and the warmer than average summer limited production at u.s. refineries. so economists now closely watching any moves by opec. and they are also looking for that cheaper winter blend to enter the market place. robin, they're looking for that by the end of october. >> many are hoping that. okay, kayna, thank you very much. now to fortnite.
