that's "kcbs traffic." your forecast, here's roberta. >> elizabeth, i just now got record that we have three-hour 40-minute delays on some arriving flights at sfo and this is the reason why. hi-def doppler radar picking up a powerful pacific storm that's now taking direct aim on the bay area. moderate rainfall now occurring around highway 12, 121 and 37. anywhere you travel around the northern portion of the bay area you have been slammed since about 3 a.m. all that is now sagging in a southerly direction impacting the bay bridge travel into chinatown and the city of san francisco as well as the mission district. we are traversing now over to the santa clara valley light raindrops on the rooftops around sunnyvale, willow glen and santa clara. we also have some light rain now in the palo alto area but look at the peninsula commute. wow! 380, 280, 101, anywhere from moderate to heavy downpours at this particular time all lifting out of half moon bay which has picked up some winds today up to 55 miles per hour

here is kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. >> reporter: good morning, michelle.d morning, brian. this was a much-needed rally. we saw the stock market get beaten down for a week and a half down 900 points. but over the past two days we saw the biggest two-day gain for wall street since november 2011. the dow is up 421 points yesterday up over 700 points in the past two sessions combined. and much of this rally is really coming from the federal reserve decision this week to stay patient with interest rates. we have to remember, the fed has kept its benchmark rate at 0 to .25% a record low for six years now and that is largely fueling the bull rally in the stock market over the past 5 1/2 years. interest rates rise and it will be gradual. we are not expecting to see the first hike until the middle of 2015. today we're looking at a breather though. those are some big gains the past few sessions so the market is opening up flat. so far, dow lower by 16 points. nasdaq down 6. s&p though is up 1. oracle pulling back a little this morning after gaining 10% on earnings y

let's check in with kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. good morning. >> good morning, frank, good morning, michelle. finally getting a taste of that santa claus rally that we have been looking for after a big sell-off over a week and a half period. stocks had a nice rebound yesterday dow up 288 points as the fed remains patient when it comes to raising interest rates, expect that to happen sometime next year probably the middle of 2015. getting further good news on the u.s. economy this morning. the labor department reports that first time unemployment claims fell by 6,000 to 289,000 the lowest level since late october. also a big drop in continuing claims down 137,000. that's continuing to fuel that rally in the stock market. also some homecoming in the tech sector from oracle k redwood city company topped earning expectations up about 3.5% revenue to 9.6 billion- dollar. and its stock is surging higher on that news. in fact, it's hitting its highest point in over 14 years. let's take a look at the big board see how we're doing so far th

here now is kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. >> reporter: great news as people look to buy their lift tickets for the upcoming ski and boarding season. consumer prices had their biggest drop in six years in november. the labor department reports that overall consumer side inflation fell by 3/10ths of a percent due to a more than 10% drop in gas prices. over the past 12 months inflation is up 1.3% at the consumer level. that's well below the fed's target of 2%. and that's key because the fed today wraps up a two-day policy meeting and the big question is, what it has to say about maintaining its federal funds rate at its current record low of zero to .25% for years. the fed could keep interest rates at that low for a considerable time still unless it feels much better about the strength of the u.s. economy. wage growth was solid in november so that's good news for consumers, as well. >>> the stock market again unable to put together a good rally. dow is up more than 200 points yesterday in early going and lost it all and gave up more than 100 points by the end of the day and
