eric: welcome back to kcci. parts of the east coast are still digging out this morning after a record snow storm this weekend. this is in martinsburg, west virginia, where one doctor isn't letting the snow get in his way of helping his patients. dr. daryl larusso hopped on his tractor and drove it through three feet of snow to get to his office even picking up a few coworkers along the way. he says what's normally a almost an hour. in washington, d.c., hundreds of people headed to capitol hill to sled monday. sledding on the hill was banned until recently and with several area businesses and schools still close, -- still closed, kids of all ages went out and had a little fun. elizabeth: and some animals are loving the d.c. snow as well. tian-tian is a panda at the national zoo and a video of him rolling around in the snow when it first started falling went viral seen by more than 57 , million people online. this video was posted to twitter monday showing he's still having a great time playing around in the snow.

onge, kcci 8 news, iowa's news leader. shaina: the number of homicides in des moines in 2015 was as decades. alyx: kcci's mark tauscheck spoke with police about why the number spiked this year. mark: in april, a bar fight in the parking lot outside gerri's bar and grill in des moines left andrew purcell unconscious and bleeding after being punched in the face, falling and hitting his head on the asphalt. he later died. police charged 29-year-old daniel patton with voluntary manslaughter. according to des moines police out of the 21 homicides in des moines this year purcell's death was the only homicide where the killer and the victim did not know each other. >> we find the one commonality in all these is there seems to be an exisiting personal relationship between the people involved prior to the incident that results in a murder. mark: police numbers show the 21 homicides this year are the first time over 20 since 1995 . police said the furthest back they have accurate statistics for is 1978 when there were 27. des moines

alyx sacks, kcci eight news. shaina: we are closely following developing stories of two deadly explosions. a family of four in ohio was killed in an explosion in their home. a man, a woman and their two , young girls. fire officials say they don't think it was gas. the cause is under neighbors say they heard a big boom, nearby homes shook, and then they saw flames shooting from the home. the other explosion was a suicide bomber that stuck -- struck a tourist hotspot in turkey. 10 were killed and 15 were wounded. that is the new number coming in. the victims are identified as german, norwegian, and peruvian. we have learned a turkish security official says it is likely isis is behind the attack. we're also getting an incredible look this morning at the violent raid that led to the arrest of drug lord el chapo. the mexican government released this video of marines in a shootout with chapo's security team last friday. the raid ended his six-months on the run. reporters were also given a look at his hideout, and he w

kcci's kim st. onge is here with why doctors say lopez's story of what happened just doesn't add up. kim: a surgeon who treated 20 month old ruby alvarez after allegedly falling out of her level fall. he defines that as anywhere between three and five feet. five feet is about eye level for me. the surgeon says her injuries from that kind of fall are "inconceivable." this picture of 20-month-old ruby, taken one day before she died, shows only surface level injuries. doctors also found 12 fractured ribs, a fractured skull and bleeding from her brain. >> for a toddler, falling from a low height, the likelihood of multiple rib fractures is the same, meaning it doesn't happen whether they land on carpet or concrete. kim: tuesday in court, a radiologist who reviewed ruby's x-rays called her injuries classic signs of child abuse. >> there was quite a bit of blood. it is clearly abnormal. and based on my experience, that's more, there was more typically seen. kim: lopez's defense attorney argued these pictu
