. >> reporter: on california and kearny streets, many barricades for a day of protest events planned. muni has announced disruption between noon and 6:00. demonstrators say bringing it to the streets is the best way to be heard. >> these people are inconvenienced for one day. it is maybe getting home late for about a half hour. the thing is, we need to bring to the table that a bunch of people are inconvenienced for their lifetime. people are thrown out of their homed and foreclosed upon. >> reporter: this is a flash occupati occupation. the encampments are no longer an option because of the police crackdowns. the focus is on smaller groups and specific ways to address financi financial inequality. >> a big movement occurring for five days in a row. it was loud. they had a lot of things. it wasn't that bad. >> reporter: here's what's happening. a rally at noon at the san francisco war memorial. at 1:00, a street party at justin herman plaza. rallies at banks and pg&e downtown. the big event is the brass band event and rally. some workers say given the small crowd they are seeing here,

group behind me getting a jumpstart on the rest of the occupiers they've spent the night here at kearny and california streets in san francisco to start their demonstration. they are occupying this plaza. it is a small group, they say do not let the size fool you. they believe that the occupy movement is alive and well, it is going strong. they say it is in transition a bit but they believe there's a bright future ahead for the movement. they are -- there are going to be a lot of events later today they say that's when you will see the crowds. there will be one at the wells fargo bank near downtown berkeley bart, scheduled 4:00. in san francisco demonstration at the pg&e headquarters on market. and war memorial on van ness scheduled for noon. two others in the financial district, one at one market plaza and the bofa building at 5:00 this afternoon. busy day planned. celebrating this one year anniversary. the group says it is excited and very enthusiastic about moving forward with the occupy movement. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >>> now we want to take you live to new york city where occu

one group has a jump on the day they've been camped out at kearny and california overnight occupyinge plaza in front of 555 california building. they say, don't be fooled by their size. they are small in number today, right now but they say they believe this movement is still going strong. this is a far cry from the crowds that we saw at the beginning of the occupy movement, especially in oakland and in san francisco, the protesters we saw then were very enthusiastic in their crew side against what they call the 1%. some protests turned violent, there were clashes with police and disagreement among the movement over whether that is a successful way to get the message across. the group occupying this plaza this morning says they prefer strategic nonviolence that's how they plan to protest. they say they consider this past year a success. >> the summary of the year is occupy has made huge progress. we've changed the dialogue in the country. people are talking about things that they never talked about before. now, we're growing as a movement, transitioning. >> reporter: i asked this gro
