phil keating is live in miami. they are finding on board of the flights. >> they are finding, bill all of the critical information that is important to tell everybody all up down the east coast what they need to do and preparations that the emergency managers need to relay to all of the citizenry. these planes are based out of madill air force place in tampa, florida. a dozen people on board and they are flying takes and they don't go in once. each one leaving in four clock. they criss cross in and out of the eye through the hurricane and drop six inch data receptors that parachute and spiral down to the ground and provide critical information. >> thi is the pressure under the planes and the flight level. you can see how they are dropping off in the eye wall and they are dropping off quickly. that is normal in a hurricane. high and penetration and see the winds, they drop off in the eye wall. >> hurricane hunter program has been flying in tropical cyclones since the 1940s, right now, the house appropriation's subco

and phil keating is live in the center in south florida. phil? is a lot of thrill seeking with the hurricane hunters. we covered irene wednesday and thursday from the bahamas. when we left our beloved hollywood photographer had to fly to newark. his plane flew all the way around hurricane irene because no commercial aircraft is going to flies into a storm like this but at the air force base outside of tampa that is what the hurricane hunters do, fly a butterfly pattern, crisscrossing flying in and out through the eye at least throw times, recording everything you can possibly record out there. and the aircraft, these are built to shake and rattle and roll and you are on board the planes you don't even fell it, it is bumpy, for sure, but unbelievable views out the window, a perspective like no other of a massive category two or three hurricane. they have taken physics, and science reading, and meet logical meetings and they have a data receptor filled with all kind of readings, and they drop it into a tube and it goes to the wing and drops into th

phil keating, thank you very much for this story out of florida today. >> okay.federal safety investigators are looking into complaints about two very popular cars, and we could see some recalls as a result. julie banderas is watching breaking news for us today. julie, what's the latest? >> reporter: at this point, we're hearing that volkswagen jeta models and ford mustang, 2010 and 2011 models, have been recalled, and we are hearing the volkswagen jeta models are dealing with fuel transmission issues and as for the mustangs, at this point they don't exactly know why but for whatever reason some kind of transmission problem occurs when mustangs merge into high speed traffic. the preliminary investigation involves 26,000 vehicles and as for the volks waggens, there were seven complaints alleges leak alleges from the fuel lines to a fuel injector in the jeta models and apparently the probe involves about 40,000 vehicles. at this point, though, no vehicles have been recalled. that's the point in question. so obviously, they need to find more information and do more

phil keating is streaming live from aruba. what has led to this increased search effort?reporter: well, primarily the trademark blue waters that you can see behind me here in aruba, they have been thoroughly searched, the initial allegation that jerry giordano, the suspect here, made to police was that this partner on his vacation in aruba, robin gardner disappeared while snorkeling at baby beach, however, police don't buy that. she went snorkeling and got caught in a currents, because the currents were nil and all these waters would have produced a body by now, according to one of the top prosecutors on the island. so a likely spot, they believe, for somebody to dump a body, and of course, giordano is a suspect in a -- in that, would be in the southern tip of the island. we met with the search teams out there, about 50 people fanning out, each separated by 12-15 feet, it's very rugged, desolate, not much out there. if there was going to be a spot on this island to dump a body, this is what they think would be the spot, a lot of cacti, thorns, and not too far away is the

phil keating is live in orlando in a familiar spot, i'm sure. phil? >> reporter: yeah.ome out of hiding? >> reporter: that's a big question that we still to this day do not know the answer. it was one month be ago today, july 5th, when that jury came back acquitting casey anthony of the first-degree murder charge of killing her daughter, convicting her of four counts of lying to investigators. since that time, casey anthony has disappeared, presumably, somewhere outside of the state of florida. reportedly spotted one time in ohio. but as for whether she'll have to serve one year's probation anytime soon, well, judge perry doesn't even know yet how he's going to rule. this all stems from the time period when casey anthony was out partying it up, hot body contest, drinking it up at the clubs and going on shopping sprees with stolen money. her best friend's checkbook. and for that two januaries ago she pleaded guilty to six counts of check fraud. the judge sentenced her to 412 days in jail which she served while awaiting the murder trial, and he also verbally said after yo

phil keating is live following this story. he's joining us now from miami. phil. >> reporter: gary giordano the prime suspect i robyn gardner's disappearance is having a detention hearing at a resource center. after this ruling, her parents who live outside of the orlando area are planning to release a public statement. the 35-year-old woman, robyn gardner disappeared four weeks ago tonight, allegedly, according to her companion, gary giordano while snorkeling out in the ocean. however, aruba police and prosecutors do not buy that story at all, saying for one the ocean current was minimal that evening, and two if she truly had drowned the searches by air and boat would have discovered her body. the solicitor general telling me basically his alibi just simply does not add up. her aruban companion gary giordano who she met online has been locked up on the island for the past 26 days as the prime suspect in her disappearance. police arrested him at the aruba airport a couple of days after she disappeared while the search was still ongoing. the solicitor general

phil keating is live on this story for us in miami.was unusual about this hearing they had yesterday? >> reporter: hi martha. in aruba, typically when a suspect is being held in jail, not charged with a crime, just held, every # days they get a new hearing where the evidence has to be greater, more indicative of a crime being committed for a judge to keep them an additional eight days. in this case, yesterday, the judge gave jerry giordano 16 more days, two weeks and two days additional, before having his next hearing. that really indicates that, number one, the evidence gathered by the aruban investigators is quite substantial and most likely, they are also still awaiting evidence to be sent down from the united states, because the fbi is actively investigating and conducting interviews on behalf of the aruban investigation. late last night, though, the maryland boyfriend of robin gardner who has been on tv quite a bit, he spoke again. >> i don't have a choice to think anything else. this is a woman who i love very much, and i want in

phil keating is live in orlando with the latest. >> reporter: apart from that possible sighting in ohiowhereabouts of casey anthony since she walked a free woman having paid her debt to society has been a complete mystery. one place i can say with certainty where she was not today was right here in ore hometown -- in the her hometown of orlando, florida. all of the players returned from her big summer murder trial where she was acquitted one month ago for killing her daughter caylee. judge perry back on the stand, casey anthony's attorneys jose baez and cheney mason, they were there as well as the prosecutor, linda drane burdick and frank george. but unlike in the murder trial, this time the state agrees with casey anthony's attorneys. they do not believe casey anthony should now have to serve a year's probation. this has nothing to do with the murder trial. this all goes back to that 31-daytime period back in the summer of 2008 when casey anthony did not report to anybody that caylee was missing or, as she told investigators back then, that "zanny" the nanny had kidnapped her. at the t

phil keating's live in miami with more.r as evidence goes, is there any evidence in this case? >> reporter: there's actually a growing amount of evidence in this case. under aruban law to hold a suspect who hasn't been charged with a crime in jail for each successive period of time, the judge has to hear a stronger case by prosecutors to do that, and that's what prosecutors won yesterday not even just an eight-day extension of the defense of gary giordano, but a 16-day extense of the time he will have to remain behind bars as a suspect in the involvement of the disappearance of robin gardner. police put a blue and white-striped towel over his head as he walked out of the courthouse yesterday to head right back to jail. he's not too many miles from the beach where he and robin gardner went there together for what was said to be a little getaway that her boyfriend in maryland really did not know about. but the evidence that police have that we know about, and a lot of it is still secret, it's not as wide open as far as public

phil keating joins us live with more. >> reporter: hi, megyn.udge's order issued verbally in 2010 that she must serve one year's supervised probation after being released from jail. she was being held in jail after she served those 412 days for the six counts of check fraud because she was denied bail and waiting for the murder trial. judge perry says it would be a mockery of justice to allow her to not serve the probation based on a scrirver in's error. casey anthony's attorney will most likely appeal to try and get this probation served from another state. but you're going to have to get another state to go along with that for baez. what it means for casey anthony, she is going to have to declare where she's going to be living for the next year, at least what state, and then according to the department of corrections in florida, she'll have to have that supervised probation. so she's going to have to come out of hiding by august 26th of this month, two fridays from now. she can, though, submit herself to meet her probation officer before then,

fox's phil keating is live in orlando. phil, this hearing is about casey anthony, the convicted thief, not the acquitted murderer. >> reporter: right. and she was convicted, of course. one month ago today four counts of lying to investigators. since then she has not been seen publicly although tmz come allegeddedly shot here in cincinnati, ohio. this is all about when she was awaiting the murder trial for her daughter, caylee. she pleaded guilty to six counts of check fraud, and this goes back to that 31-daytime period when caylee was missing, however, casey hadn't told anybody yet, and she was out partying it up and spending that money, and she was writing bogus checks out of her best friend's checkbook who happened to be out of town at the time. back in 2010 casey anthony pled guilty, and the judge sentenced her to 412 days in jail plus one year's probation after her release. however, there's been great confusion about that probation. alisyn: so do prosecutors want her to come back to florida to serve that probation, or
