good evening, i'm keith garvin. chung yao. she was stabbed to death at her clic. an extensive investigation and one that has the community on edge. derek ward reports. >> the victim is 53-year-old chung yao, a resident at the home. there is an acupuncture clinic run out of the home. she was found bound and stabbed inside. >> we are waiting to hear from the medical examiner when the autopsy is done, the cause and maern of death. trauma to the upper body. >> investigators remain on the scene long after the victim's body was discovered friday afternoon. >> there was a lot of information, evidence available within the home. and the detectives are taking their team to methodically retrieve the evidence. there is after all one shot at obtaining the evidence properly so it can be used to help prosecute who ever we eventually find as the suspect in this case. >> the last time the victim was seen alive was earlier friday. she showed up at the restauran next door to her home business. she would send her patrons to the restaurant after treatment and later would go there hers

keith garvin has more on this story. he is in northwest d.c. >> reporter: metro officials say they have a long way to go before they could determine the cause of last month's crash. but they say this new information sheds some important light on what may have led to the deadly collision. ntsb investigators. after anyi date into the investigation was released this morning, the metro's general manager was compelled to speak. >> we would like on make sure that there is no confusion as to what was released today. >> reporter: investigators are looking at two parts of the circuit known as impedence. one was replaced five days before the collision. the ntsb announced the others were replaced in 2007 and showed power fluctuations over an 18-month period. fluctuations apparently were not enough to prevent the circuit from detecting an approaching train. >> we have not felt any failures. we are going through the wreckage to ensure there were no failure on doing that period of time. if we find that there were any cases where we fa

i'm kimberly suiters in for keith garvin. the news is just ahead. first let's go to steve villanueva up in storm center 4 for a look at this morning's weather. steve, did it rain last night? >> after all that, hmm? yeah, it didn't rain. we did have a front that pushed across the area, but it just fell apart as it made its way toward the mid-atlantic. the northeast got a ton of rain. locally, nothing. here's what's going on right now. temperaturewise, 73 degrees here in the beltway, 69 at dulles, 70 manassas. a warm start to the day and dew points are on the high side. at least with the front moving through, these numbers will start to drop today so the humidity will be going down. you can see we did have a ton of rain up toward new york city. we are now on the northern fringe of the frontal band. eventually as the day goes on, the front will continue to slide off toward the south, taking the clouds with it. mostly sunny to partly cloudy for this afternoon. temperatures climbg into the mid-80s and much of the week looks pretty
