news 4's keith garvin has the story. >> reporter: her face tells the story. a canine on the mend after a brutal attack left her clinging to life in a dumpster the dog, now known as trooper, discarded like a piece of trash. >> i saw him sticking out right there, out of that trash can there. >> reporter: trooper was found friday outside an apartment complex in southeast. when leroy shaw robinson approached this dumpster, he heard thrashing and the sound of whimpering. >> the dog was in the trash can. i don't know if he was dead or alive. come to find out, he was moving. >> reporter: robinson immediately called the humane society's hot line. dispatched was enforcement officer eve russell. when she arrived, she found a dog wrapped in a trash bag that was dungt-taped to her body. >> i was in a bit of disbelief when the dispatcher was describing to me what the witnesses were seeing. when i got to the scene it was even worse than i had been expecting. i was shocked. it was probably one of the most pathetic things i've ever seen. >> reporter: seeing signs of life, ru

keith garvin joins us to tell bus this. hey, keith. >> official was the school system said they knew they had a problem a week before school started and had scheduling issues in the past. this year the number of issues was doubled. today they addressed how to move past an unwelcomed glch. >> good afternoon. thank you for joining us. >> school system's top man got right to the point. the scheduling mix-up in prince george's county had been frustrating for families and embarrassing for the system and dr. william height says he is sorry. >> i want to offer my sincere apologies to the students, families, and the staff of prince george's county public schools. for the inconvenience and disruption to the school year that this scheduling issue imposed. >>eporter: wh the first bells rang on monday, about 000 students had no class schedules. they were sent to gyms, cafeterias, other holding areas while administrators tried to fix the problem. the school system is pointing the finger at a $4 million computer system called school map.

keith garvin is here with more on this. >> the police arrested four teenagers shortly after the crime was reported. all were described as african-american but ahorities now say that three are white and one is african-american. either case, people in manassas aren't happy. even from a thousand feet above, the words and symbol of hate have the power to anger. this morning news chopper 4 captured this video from a parking lot of a manassas elementary school. someone had taken rolls of sod and spelled out the title kkk and the words white power and formed a swastika. >> i just moved back to virginia. that's the school i went to when i was a kid. i mean -- yeah, that's surprising. i don't see anything like that really happening around here. >> reporter: police say it was four teenagers that took the sod from a renovation project at sinclair elementary school overnight. the authorities picked them up hours after receiving a call about the crime. police would not go on camera but in a statement they say that the suspects have been identified and are being charged with vandalism. they are all
