nbc 10's keith jones is following the corbett campaign. >> we begin with nbc 10 ease lu ann cahn live in york where they'll watch the returns come in tonight. lu ann, what is the mood there? >> reporter: we are in the center where the wolf campaign is prepping and hoping to be part of a big celebration tonight. i did spend a little bit of time with the candidate earlier today in philadelphia. he looked a little tired. i asked him how he thought things were going and he said, i think i'm in pretty good shape. tom wolf made four stops in philadelphia today. we caught up with him on columbus boulevard where he met with labor leaders. it's almost impossible for a democrat to win in this state without strong support from philadelphia and pittsburgh. this morning turnout was brisk and better than some expected. back in york this afternoon, wolf voted and then took questions from reporters about how he feels as the frontrunner in this campaign. >> i have never done this before so i think it's like somebody, like i am taking an exam and waiting for the teacher to give me the test results back

live in york, pennsylvania, lu ann cahn. >> nbc 10's keith jones is live in pittsburgh tonight. corbett's camp maintained hope until the very end. >> reporter: it was a two-hour wait. it was a tearful concession speech here in pittsburgh. he thanked his wife, his daughter, his son, also his family members and tom wolf for a hard-fought fight, all on a night where history was made. at the podium, tom corbett the first pennsylvania govern floor to fail to win re-election. he says he reduced the budget, lower unemployment, more support for people with disabilities and increased spending for education. here is some of what he said tonight. >> i said i was going to do what is right for pennsylvania. it's a tough decision. people may not like it. well, obviously, they didn't like it. i said i may be a one-term governor and i am. but i am proud of what we did, what we all did. >> reporter: he said he is proud of everything he did because he did it for the people of pennsylvania. as for the next chapter in his life and his wife's life, here is what he told us. it will most likely involv

live in the digital operations center, keith jones, nbc 10 news. >>> this just in to nbc 10. the wanted poster for barnes put out by the sheriffs office in virginia, where barnes was wanted for attempted murder, kidnapping and rape of a 16-year-old last month. the poster shows barnes' picture and ford taurus he used in the kidnapping of carlesha-freeland gaither in philadelphia. >>> the suspect's past -- >> his rap sheet is extensive. nbc 10's jacqueline london is here to tell us what she found in barnes' past. >> his past includes crimes from traffic violation to aggravated assault. back in 1999 he was charged with assault and battery on a minor in virginia beach, virginia. that charge was later dropped. in 2002, he was found guilty of robbery using a gun in richmond, virginia. he served nine months out of a 20-year sentence. then in 2005, barnes attacked his ex-wife. he was found guilty of numerous charges include iing aggravated assault and false imprisonment. barnings served his time at the state correctional institution in dallas from june 30th, 2006, through november 30

nbc 10's keith jones is live at corbett camp headquarters in pittsburgh. haven't seen in like four decades, right? >> reporter: that's right. for more than 40 years, as a matter of fact. he bucked a trend that lasted that long. for the first time, a one-term pennsylvania governor woke up this morning out of office. he was emotional last night during his concession speech on a night where, frankly, history was made. supporters lined his route to the stage, but governor corbett was overwhelmed by democratic voter turnout. he and first lady susan corbett thanked supporters and touted accomplishments, among them he says reducing the budget, lowering the unemployment rate and increasing spending for education. in a gracious move, he thanked his opponent over the phone, democratic challenger turned governor-elect tom wolf, offering a prayer for the family and the fate of the commonwealth. >> i called tom wolf, and i thanked him for a well-fought fight. i congratulated him on his victory, and i wished him well in the next four years. we've had a very energetic cam

nbc 10's keith jones is joining us live from corbett headquarters in pittsburgh. ith, you covered the governor's victory four years ago, a much different mood this morning, i'm sure. >> reporter: i'll tell you what, chris, it was an emotional speech last night, and history was made. governor corbett becomes the first pennsylvania governor to fail to win re-election since 1968. that's when the state allowed two-term governors. supporters applaud, the former governor enters after a double-digit deficit in polls proved insurmountable. corbett and his wife, susan, thanking democratic challenger and governor-elect tom wolf. the former two-term state attorney general congratulated his opponent over the phone, then listed his accomplishments, including more support for people with disabilities. >> we've affected lives in many, many positive ways. for instance, i had the opportunity to meet people like kirk and maggie condrich, who dedicated their lives to helping children with special needs like their daughter, chloe. to chloe, i'm her pat-pat. >> reporter: the governor s

keith jones live in the digital operations center. >> what are they going to do to try to boost scoresthey're taking a school-by-school tour. students in camden took standardized tests late last school year, the results frankly were not good. he visited the kato community school to outline the steps the district is taking to improve student's performance. the numbers are similar when it comes to math. one in five students is considered proficient in english. this is a school showing progress but others are not. but it's not for lack of resources. >> this past school year we spent for every student roughly $28,000 which compares to a state average of $15,000. we're spending almost double what some school districts are spending and we're not getting the same results. >> reporter: the superintendent is taking a four-pronged approach. number one he's going to visit the schools to see what can be done, what they're doing right or wrong. and then he's going to solicit feedback from students, parents especially and teachers that are in those classes and schedule formal school visits with each

now let's go to keith jones in pittsburgh at the corbett camp. >> reporter:ly a.m lu ann, justu mentioned, we are ready for history here at the iwilliam pen hotel. if corbett wins, he'll overcome a double-digitç race. the state constitution reflected that governors can run for two consecutive terms now. he voted in shaler 20 minutes north of pittsburgh. he was with his family, wife susan and grandchildren. i just spoke to his campaign manager and his camp is counting on low turnout from registered democrats who outnumber republicans and typically avoid non-presidential races. >> well, look, i mean, it's still very early. i think both sides have working to turn out their bases. we feel confident that the governor is in a position to win re-election. we felt that way, it's been our game plan and we continue to execute that. it's still a couple hours until the polls close. >> reporter: and the governor's camp has reported that republican turnout has been as high as 28% in some precincts. as far as the democratic turnout, according to the people here from the republican camp, it's been as lo

reporting live r keith jones, nbc 10 news. >>> now to breaking new details in the kidnapping case of carlesha gaither. the suspect confessed to that kidnapping and is expected to arrive in virginia any minute to face charges in a separate case. here's the latest on the charges and an update on carlesha. >> reporter: we just got a copy of the criminal complaint. and tonight we are learning that barnes admitted that he was the one who was behind the crime. he confessed and he also acknowledged that he did not know carlesha before the kidnapping. tonight we got our hands on the federal criminal complaint against delvin barnes. he not only admitted to kidnapping carlesha but admitted he didn't know her prior. and he admitted to driving her from philadelphia to aberdeen, maryland. the document is crucial because it outlines what allege ldly happened. it suggests that barnes is the man keen in surveillance video and floes his alleged path sunday night down to his arrest in maryland yesterday. after seeing the complaint today, we also learned barnes was discovered in the backseat of his car

i'm keith jones, shoppers will have to tough it out for more than just the long lines.ick off bitter cold temperatures whether you're headed to the store now or later tomorrow. let's get your bf shopping forecast. are you heading out there, sheena? >> no, keith and those going out are brave to be going out with all the crowds. right now outside a bit of a wind is making it feel more like the 20s. 25 degrees is the windchill in philadelphia. it feels like 127 in allentown. atlantic city for the feels like temperature. as we go into your black friday starting with early morning hours, it will be cold. by 6:00, temperatures will be around 30 degrees by 9:00, still around 30 degrees. more sunshine tomorrow, then by noon only about the mid-30s. so we will be topping out in about the mid to upper 30s so it will be a cold black friday, cold if you have to wait in lines outside. just make sure you have your jacket. i'm tracking a bit of a warmup in the weekend forecast. i'll show you that and our next chance for possible rain and snow showers. >> sheena, we look forward to that
