is all affecting the auto sector we're joined by the car coach, auto analyst and senior analyst at kel kelly blue book. thanks for joining us. eric, you're all about values and prices on cars. could we see a dampening effect on all the recalls on the value of cars, especially when you consider how robust the used car market has been the last few years? >> well, yes. thanks for having me on your show. so far i think it's too soon to tell exactly how gm is going to be impacted by the recalls. sales down 2.3% through the first quarter of the year. at the same time, the industry was up by 1.3%. however, most of the decline for gm was based on a cutback in rental volume which was a decision that was totally voluntary on the part of gm. >> okay. >> you know, lauren, here's the interesting thing. at the same time we've had these record headlines, record recalls in all of that, the auto sales numbers last month are really strong. >> yeah. >> true. >> i mean, there was a lot of incentives involved as well so that's something that you have to take into calculation, that if there were no incentiv
