matt keller joins us from san jose. matt? >> check out the dry hillside in east san jose. i got new numbers great cal fire, they have responded to more than 2,100 fires, 70 percent increase compared to the average year. today, several dozen firefighters from the bay area including south san francisco, saratoga, pacifica, milpitas and gilroy gathered in grant ranch county park on the way up to mount hamilton and they are learning how to use tools to light fires in a safe way. this could create a fire break that could save homes and lives. firefighters are being trained to be strike team leaders meaning they will bring group of their firefighters and equipment into other parts of the state to help with wildfires. >> an issue is they don't understand what they are doing they are going to make the problem worse and someone could get hurt or killed. >> you are trying to make sure they know how to do it correctly. >> thank you is our goal do make them understand how to use it, when to use it, and that it will benefit and not hurt someone. >> the director just issued an order thi
