just days after the keller fire, oakland's fire chief is now speaking out against the possibility ofhutting down fire stations. this comes after that devastating report regarding the city of oakland's budget which show the city overspent by millions kron four's. dan kerman has the story. >> the city of oakland could be cutting cops in closing fire stations as early as december depending on how the city council decides to close a massive budget deficit that could impact the city's bond rating. >> there are no easy answers to this. >> tuesday morning, oakland city council members were briefed on the numbers. oakland over spent last year by 80 million dollars. oakland is projected to overspend this fiscal year by 30 million dollars and the city's contingency budget has been triggered requiring immediate cuts of 63 million dollars. >> we provide more services than we can afford to provide. that is the key factual statement of where we are as an organization. and so the hard decisions that we will need to make our which services at what level we will no longer provide in order to stay wit

and as some residents in the oakland hills are still recovering from what they're calling the keller fire, that was just a week ago, voters and the hills neighborhoods are being asked to weigh in on a ballot measure that would raise millions of dollars for wildfire prevention measure and then is a tax that requires two-thirds voter approval to pass and it would add a $99 tax to single family homes each year in a $65 tax for condos and apartments. only voters whose neighborhoods are affected by the tax will get to decide the measure's fate which seems fair since only property owners in that area of the hills will have to pay the tax. the funds would be spent on enhancing fire patrols on high fire danger days, hiring more goats to eat up dry vegetation and performing annual property inspections. among other things. meanwhile, both vice president harris and former president trump. are in texas. the state is not a traditional swing state, but both candidates are using their visit as part of different approaches to appeal to voters. washington correspondent reshad hudson reports. >> deep

eight kids welcomed ten grandchildren and host thanksgiving dinner every year was destroyed in the keller fire. again, it's our family home. it's where we've taken care of my father that you know, passed away here when he was 117. the oldest man in the world. crews say the fire started near the freeway across from delaney's house and quickly spread. they are still investigating the cause. delaney's husband, jerry was sleeping inside at the time. the window blew out in our home. and that's what woke him up and, you know, just when i go back and just see the place where he was sleeping was destroyed. i'm just grateful that he got out of there. the couple is staying in a hotel until they can find long term housing, but they still don't know if insurance will cover all the damage because it came from a wildfire. trying to, you know, talk to our adjuster, figure things out. so we're kind of in the gap right now. and despite everything, delaney, who has spent years running her own nonprofit, is hoping to use what she learns to eventually help others navigate the logistics and emotions behind fi
