new hampshire senator kelly ayote is republican on the homeland security committee.enator, welcome. good to have you with us this morning. >> thanks, martha. martha: you go through some of this. in hindsight is always 20/20. you look at trips to afghanistan, the trips to pakistan. increasing fervor he had developed into radicalization. we always have to work backwards from the details in all of these cases. >> i would agree but you know as i see the trips to afghanistan and pakistan, the question becomes you know, why wasn't that more thoroughly looked at? i think right now did he have ties with any extremist groups that are there? a number of terrorist groups in those countries and did anyone there help give him the leeway in terms of helping him how to make explosives. that has to be gotten to the bottom of right away. why wasn't there more thorough questioning at time with his trips? obviously the situation with his wife has to be fully pursued to understand what she knows and suddenly left the country, which leads me to believe that she did know he was going to u

democratic governor maggie hassan is taking on kelly ayote.und state of ohio republican rob portman battling it out democratic former governor ted strickland. interesting side note, strickland lost the governor race in 2010 to current governor john kasich. head to wisconsin, where current senator republican ron johnson is facing a challenge from democrat russ feingold. this race going to be interesting because it is really rematch for these two. johnson actually ousted feingold back in 2010. abby, not only could that race tip the power in the senate, could also be a highly contentious one as well. abby: lot of races to follow. marco rubio, a lot of people wonder what is going on in florida? reporter: part of the reason that marco rubio changed his mine and decided not to retire from the senate is because he said he knew that control of the senate may very welcome down to the race in florida. so this is a very important race. after the primaries last week rubio will be facing democratic congressman patrick murphy. murphy has come under fire for
