time for kelly evans, who's standing by for global markets report in the land of the olympics. miss evans. >> andrew, that's right. land of the olympics. we'll see if britain today can finally, on day five here, get a gold medal. a couple of different ways they could make that happen. in the meantime, let's take a look at the trading session. you can see we're roughly split between decliners and advancers. stock europe 600 up 0.3% on the morning. we haven't seen a ton of action because clearly with all of the data coming out and all of of the policy meetings, ecb, bank of england tomorrow, that's what people are waiting before they put on any major positions. take a look at the european, most part green arrows. the ftse 100 is up 0.7 of 1%. this is despite a weak batch of data across the board. first of the month we know they'll get these pmi figures. that's what we got in britain. uk pmi was three points lower than expected, came in at about 45. lowest reading since 2009. export orders posted the biggest fall also since early 2009. market up, 0.7%. xetra dax up 0.13%. ftse mib

kelly evans is standing by in london this morning. i saw her earlier talking about stan chart. boy the regulators here, panties are all in a bunch on this guy. i saw carl evans say finally we have a regulator that doesn't take six years to do something and the fsa should stop wringing their hands and give the guy some credit. i don't know how to see this thing. are you talking about this state regulator we got. >> we've been talking about state regulators. interesting to hear the rhetoric from uk analysts who think it's a lot of the u.s. going after uk banks and going after the london culture. but in fact that's died down a little bit as standard chart as come out of headlines. their shares have respond relatively well. yesterday we saw them up in the range of 4% to 5%. pretty mixed picture here. decliners and advancers roughly split and leaves us flat on the europe stoxx 600. look what's happening across the board. weaker tone in asia, that's a theme of late. the hang seng down yesterday. one of its worst days since july. nikkei is doing better on hopes that yen will boost exp

time for the "global markets report" where kelly evans is standing by in london. and on monday, we won't be able to do that introduction. how are you? >> hi, andrew, i'm well. i think london wouldn't mind if you kept using the introduction. they're certainly planning to use it to generate more of a long-term boost to tourism here in britain. in any case, speaking of britain, barclays is one of the banks generally leading the european stoxx 600 higher this morning. shares up about 3.5% after news david walker will be the company's new chairman. but aside from that, it is more of a red than a green picture this morning, decliners out-pacing advancers by about a 4-1 ratio, and overall, we're down about 0.4% on the index. now, this comes as china reported trade figures weaker than expected, particularly on the export side. exports growing just 1% year on year, and it's remarkable. i mean, that sounds like the kind of growth you'd expect out of europe at this point, not out of china. but in any case, that put pressure on asian markets, the hang seng down 0.65% and the
