nbc's kelly o'donnell joins me live from capitol hill s. that number still standing at seven, kelly? >> reporter: we're up to eight now. and that is because we've got eight republicans voting to support the nomination of loretta lynch. and she only needs 51 votes. so her confirmation is secure. and it comes down to we've just added the name of wisconsin's ron johnson who is up for re-election. and if you look at the list of republicans who are voting for her, a number of them are facing re-election in what you would call blue state in 2016. that may influence their ultimate decision. this has been a very long road more than 160 days waiting for final confirmation. she had been through a rigorous hearing which is the standard process. what really happened is a turn initially republicans saying they were supportive of backing the president's nominee to be attorney general. many wanted to see the eric holder era end. but then. questioning dealing with issues like immigration, she is supportive of the president's action to limit deportations. an
