i'm joined by kelly wallace and leah goldman for "marie claire." >> it's really about the demographics seeing this surge of women getting married later, single longer, really running their households by themselves and the gun manufacturers and gun lobby has figured that out. so now they are marketing to those women and saying, safety ladies, you need to arm yourself with a gun. >> making smaller guns and pink guns and guns can put in your cleavage. >> some women will say, they are sort of offended by the use of pink, although one woman in a story said at least her husband wasn't going to use it. but there is something there. more women in law enforcement and more women in the military, single mothers, owning their own businesses. the issue then becomes this kind of look at the statistics, right? women are more likely to be a victim of gun violence than using a gun -- >> far more likely. >> exactly. >> one study showed women with guns in the home are three times more likely to be victims of homicide than women who live in households that don't have a gun. >> having a gun in your home de

i'm joined now by ivillage correspondent kelly wallace and marie goldman.she's done the let's move campaign, which is what that idiot was referring to. and also, she's really embraced organizations like walmart, that agreed to hire veterans. but those are considered safe. does she have an opportunity here, do you think? >> well, you know, she knows she has an opportunity. she knows it's a very big platform. she has another four years, but you talk to aides. they say she is definitely going to continue on, let's move, kind of deepen and expand her involvement on that issue. also joining forces, where she talks about helping and supporting military families. but they say that she is considering picking up another issue. and they also say she is so disciplined and strategic, chris, they're not just looking at the next six months or year, they're planning for the next four years. they're doing a whole strategic planning process for the next four years. they're definitely considering picking up something else. >> there are people who will criticize her and have

i'm joined by i village chief correspondent kelly wallace and leah from marie claire magazine.ave a lot of children and women at risk. >> they will. women are disproportionately affected by the cuts. the meat cleaver type cuts sequestration will bring. we're talking about food, nutrition, health care, cervical cancer, breast cancer kind of screenings, things like that. these are the programs that don't fall under the sacred cows that generally can't be touched when there are massive budget cuts. these are the programs people tend to brush off to the side. they're smaller, not biggies. they're not as sexy as some of the others. they tend to fall by the way side and hurt women. >> you know what, as you're talking about that, what is so sad is they will be disproportionately affecting lower income women. when you talk about some 70,000 kids might not be able to go to head start. what if their moms don't have child care? they might have to forego a paycheck. 600,000 women and children affected in this supplemental nutrition program. i am so frustrated by it. this is so not the way
