. >> kemberly richardson at the scene with new video. >> all this police activity is happening here at the end of gerritsen avenue. officers with the nypd here at the end of the avenue. they're also the harbor unit in place. that's shell bang creek at the end of the dead end. divers are there in the water. this all started when someone living in this neighborhood noticed damage at the end of the road. they then took a look at video cameras at their surveillance video. i want to show you that video. this video was taken by a surveillance camera at a house here in gerritsen avenue just before 5:00 yesterday morning. you see that car racing toward the water. it goes off camera. then that watt er plunges in to the creek. we're told it's somewhat, maybe about 20 feet off the bulkhead. that was 10:05 yesterday morning. the person who saw that video didn't think anything of it at first. they saw damage to a wooden wall that's missing down at the end of the avenue. they called police this afternoon. that's when they came out here. they couldn't see the car at that point. divers went in to the

kemberly richardson is live right now. >> reporter: well, good morning. that dog's owner remains here on unrelated charges. it is still unclear if he could be facing charges in this case where his dog mauled a little girl. take a look here, we were there as the pit bull's owner, arnold was arrested on-the-scene on an violation of order of protection. it is in clear if he was at was mauled to death. police are saying three girls were playing in the backyard of the home on sunday morning and witnesses are saying the dog latched to the girl's head and neck and wouldn't let go. until the officers arrived the dog was shot and killed by one of the officers. hospital a few hours later. >> words can not even state how -- great of a kid she was. like-- she -- she was wonderful. she was an angle. >> reporter: we are still waiting on some kind of explanation, what made that dog suddenly turn so violent and attack the 9-year-old girl. >>> today correction officers were stand behind local lawmakers to stand behind the use of force. this is after two inmates were accus
