eyewitness news reporter kemberly richardson is in closest with the latest on this investigation. kemberly? >> reporter: well, dave, just a few minutes ago, i spoke with michael's dad by phone from chicago. he tells me this entire situation is hitting his family so, so hard. michael lived here in the quiet upscale neighborhood. today we watched his friends rally around his family. his mom is here. family who was asking for privacy during this very, very difficult time. again, today the medical examiner confirmed to us investigators suspected someone killed michael. hit the 35-year-old in the head with something. sunday night a friend reported the athlete missing and he was last seen thursday afternoon here in closer. police found his suv in the midwood section of brooklyn on tuesday. his body was in the backseat underneath several garbage bags. the lexus had been parked in that spot on east 16th street since sunday. now michael was drafted by the knicks in 2001 but ended up not playing. he then went overseas and played there for years. the 6'8" forward was a standout at the univers
